What have you had to deal with on SGW? Were you sat on? Did you lose your account? Were you banned? Scammed for all you had? Had to start over? Use a **Filtered** computer? Post what you have overcame to play SGW...
Ive never played SGW on a computer, I use my PSP (Playstation Portable); pretty much a 24/7 server lag... it sucks... bad... and cant type over about 500 letters/numbers/symbols...

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
Err......lets see....I got sat on for the first two weeks I played because of something I said on the forums.....I've been scammed countless times (mostly before the broker system came out).....I've been autobanned a handful of times.....I've quit and restarted the game half a dozen times.....
But they're not exactly obstacles really.....just bumps along the road

Adapting to being massed daily, and have my naquadah stolen when I am farming.
Oh, and the lag.

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
Lets see then... lol.
First few months I competed against two close friends (who no longer play). Then got sat on by the original predator (rank 1 covert at the time).
The I faced off against some of the biggest names in the game and forums in an argument forewarning everyone about the problems with PPT, SS and Ascension to come. I however was not listened too.. now I smile and think "Told you so..". After which I was sat on by four of them.
When I came back, I insulted Replijake and ETL. The former tried to hunt me down along with Ancient Anubis (who put a price on my head..) and Jix. Managed to keep my identity hidden until Jason revealed it and then I was, again, massed and sat on for my big old mouth, luckily for only a short amount of time.
Since then, it's just been managing to say what I want and manipulate who I can using my mediocre mastery of the english language, persuasive techniques and half truths to make as little effort as possible for me ingame whilst maintaining a good circle of friends from this game.
Most recently I have had to organise and run the annual awards, and of course mine and my bro's empire - Nemesis.
So lots and lots of obstacles in SGW ranging from the admin himself to the players and my own mouth.

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
woh semper likes getting into trouble. And damn...i remember Jix...long time ago that.
I havnt had that many obstacles, got scammed and quit like 5 times
.
Most recently i was in a very dire situation with dave bliss and BC threatening to mass my alliance of 20 people between 1 and 10mill army size who would lose everything if they got hit and trusted me
. That scared me a little haha, but its all good we are friends now!

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
My biggest obstacle has always been staying in the game. I've quit more times than I should have because I thought I was too addicted to it, leaving me to start over from nothing once again. I think everytime I've came back I've surpassed where I was before, but I always wonder what it would be like to have the account I started with and played with it until now.

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
In my first few months or so I overcame constantly being barracked By Replijake and EtL in chat. They kept saying they where going to get me and i was only little and on my own!
Then i overcame esker trying to sit on me by smashing his head in like a plum. By smashing his head in like a plum i of course mean, I kept my defence so low that it wasnt worth massing but high enough so it couldnt be sabbed away. That annoyed him greatly and he gave up...
I also overcame being a Mod, Being a supermod, And am still overcomeing being an admin, Those are 3 of the biggest obstacles the game will throw at you.
Oh, And Bloody Sunday, Although that was more fun than an obstacle
And of course, Im unfortunatly friends with semper so that is a great obstacle i must overcome daily...

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
I think my greatest challenge is foruming with a dialup connection lol, playing isn't so bad with dialup as it's only text and usually loads near instantaneously.. But when my temp internet folder resets I'm forced to re"download" everyone's avatars and signatures, which is pretty brutal when on dialup.. I tried turning them off but after a few days I had to turn them back on, I can't stand foruming without them on
Other than that I believe there was just a few incidents when I first started playing, joined the wrong type of CO and got extorted and what not.. got quite a few virus attack attempts soon after that rofl.. It's damn freaky when your antivirus pops up "Attack blocked", then again a few seconds later, then again.. check the log and there's about 5 attacks per second
Hmmm.. Can't think of too much else.. I've really increased my spelling and grammar usage using these forums for the past year so that's cool I guess.. hmm..
Oh yeah, and with my recent interest in sig making, it's always annoying as hell uploading sigs and downloading renders on dialup

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
I started off being massed for fun by various members of my own alliance for sport (The SLA)
then being massed by my friends simply to see the look on my face when i logged on.
Then i might have started a thing or two ingame (i was a young...) and got massed some more.
then i think i caused a war, so got massed some more.
I was playing on a dial up connection the whole time as well, lovely
Changed my ingame name From Zip_ac_na, which stopped the regular massings.
then quit for about 8 months
Started playing again and much of the same happened, so i quit again for about 2 years and here we are.
Hopefully thats my biggest obstacle over and done with

Re: Biggest SGW Obstacle
my biggest obstacle? Hmm, I was massed few times, just because masser is stronger than me, and because he can mass me. And because they though I had too high covert action for my size. Educators. ... I can play however I want. I'm not hurting any1 if I have higher covert, am I?
other big obstacle was staying here, and not quitting. While I'm at quitting, I almost quit when I lost 100M UUs. More than 3/4 of my total army size back then. Well, I didn't quit, because it was my mistake. I brokered my UUS to someone from my farm list(all my friends were off line, and my PPT was near end), of course he had 0 def, lots, and lots of UUs out(at least 10 days worth of UP), no good planets, and he never reacted when I raided or farmed him. So I assumed he was inactive, but I was wrong. He accept my broker, and put himself on Vac mode or deleted the account. Well, I still have his Id,if I ever find him.
So, even if I still had 30M lifers, that was new start for me. Quite a big obstacle.
