Favourite "gangster" movies

Just wanted to know what's your favourite "gangster" movies.

The Godfather trilogy (need I say something? Not really, title speaks for itself!)
A Bronx Tale (not famous, but you HAVE to watch it if you didn't already! De Niro is in) (trailer linked)
The Untouchables (very good movie, one of best of the kind)
American History X (very deep movie)
Shaft (unsure it's a gangster movie but can't think of another worth top listing "gangster" movie I've seen atm, always forget one or two in my lists lol)

I've seen Pulp Fiction (mention it as I'm sure some would list it as top), but I didn't like it, at all...

I didnt see movies such as Goodfellas...just felt I'd mention it!

Oh got my fifth movie...
The Sicilians Clan

Re: Favourite "gangster" movies

Hahahaha, Papa I do love you :D

Pulp fiction, i wouldnt like to pigeon hole as a gangster movie, its more than that.

Godfather part 1, i really enjoyed, 2 and 3 where pretty dire for me though, I cant put the trilogy in mine.

Goodfellas and Casino are my two favourates, pretty much the same cast, but completely different movies.

Untouchables is one of the best movies of all time, il agree with you on that.

No mention of Scarface? That's an awesome film.

That would probably be one of those Pops forgot to mention. ;)

In no particular order, I would mention:

Scarface (*grin* The Original, Mordack.. 1932 by Howard Hawks)
Once upon a time in America / The Untouchables.. (this is really me trying to stealthily include a sixth movie in my top 5)
The public enemy (Again.. '30s movie.. *grin*)
Donnie Brasco
Goodfellas (to have at least smilingly appreciated the mainstream)

Re: Favourite "gangster" movies

I never seen it thus no mention of it.. ;)

I very highly doubt I'd prefer it over Godfather trilogy or the Untouchables, but well, I'll tell when I've seen it lol
There's an original movie of that one? Interesting. :)

As for movies I said I could have forgotten, it's probably because I've seen them ages ago, or because they don't fit a top list. :)
I try to list movies I see now, to not forget I've seen them

Re: Favourite "gangster" movies

Now thats it, I like Scarface as a good culteral reference, but i found the film itself to be pretty dire. Just like the Second two godfathers, Dont really care for it.

I'm in the minority of people who like all three Godfather films, but that might just be because I'm a Pacino nut.

I also enjoyed 'Gangster No. 1' - a little known British film with Malcolm McDowell and Paul Bettany starring as the older and younger versions of an aspiring London criminal.

'Resevoir Dogs' is a classic too, and 'Layer Cake' is always worth watching. I'm not sure if any of those films have been mentioned either.

.

I liked the whole bunch as well...I've seen it on tv as a saga divided between three weeks. So it made the whole be appreciable as it deserved to be! :)
