Re: Should We Get Custom Forum Titles After 600 posts?
Meeeeh if you could change the title yourself (Like in UCP) then I would say yes, but probably after 1500 or 2000 posts. It would increase spam so I might even be swayed to say no. Since the Admins have to manually change it (correct?) I am going to say no

then you should maybe start thinking up arguments to use towards our esteemed admins that will convince them to start making up well over 300 titles... they'll need a LOT of persuasion wethinks...

Re: Should We Get Custom Forum Titles After 600 posts?
Whilst I think there may be some merit to the idea of awarding custom titles to frequent posters, I have to agree that the 600 post mark is far too low. Such titles should be special, and a mark of something. I don't care to count how many people are at over 600 posts, but I daresay it's quite a few. 3000, 4000 or even 5000 seems like better landmarks to me.

its some 350ish mordack... (we used member search function...)
wethinks maybe rather to have at least enough posts to get on top half of the first page of the member list (sorted by post count, descending) or an administrators preference... (mainly the latter)

Re: Should We Get Custom Forum Titles After 600 posts?
IMO you should only get special title it you've done something special. I think thats kinda obvious. Now if some one writes a long, though-out, well crafted guide to a certain aspect of SGW; In my opinion that deserves a custom title. If some one hits 5,000+Posts that wern't all complete rubbish and spam; that also is worth a title. However giving spammers custom titles whilst other people who only post where/when nessercery sit back with set ones... not truely fair.
if you do something special, you get a special title. If you don't do something special... you don't. Simple.

Re: Should We Get Custom Forum Titles After 600 posts?
The custom titles should be as they always have been. Unique and restricted.
It's about knowing the right people (as it should be), about being a big enough character to get one (as it should be).
As far as I know.. the only defined way of getting one is 10,000 post's or more.
This system works. It has for four years and it should continue. Lowering the post count, or making it less restrictive will only dilute it more and next everyone will want a personal colour or beyond... when does it end? Keep the system the way it is.
Personally I prefer having a personal colour.
It's the most unique thing there is.. as far as I know only four users have unique colours. (myself, Zeratul, Smooshable and that other chaos mod...).

that other chaos mod isnt using that color currently... and its an inactive account...
also, for unique colors, former admins (some at least) use purple, you use black, we use semi-random and tok'ra leaders use red... we cant seem to remember any other active colors now...

Possibly.
But then again, how does one define a 'unique' personality? It's a potential minefield of contrasting opinions. It is rare, though not unheard of, for a majority of the community to agree that a single person is out of the ordinary. I'd be in favour of handing out custom titles to people who have been nominated into the 'Hall of Fame' at the annual awards. Such people have, arguably, earned the respect of the community and are eligible for said privilege.

it doesn't matter, if an admin feels one is said personality, then they do as they please with the title given
it should be yalls choice not ours
I can't say that I approve of a system where the admins are allowed to hand out custom titles based on their whims. This has happened in the past, and the titles have ended up being awarded to friends and associates of the admin; rather then people of genuine distinction.
Forum titles should be a reflection of the forum users' beliefs.
