Independence was a tax dodge that didnt work, encouraged by the French who hated the English, it eventually lead to civil war and meant slavery and segregation lasted much longer than it would have under British rule. Basically you'd have been better off staying British, at the very least you would have learnt to spell English words correctly and the rest of the world would not be subjected to Microsoft products messing up our emails and documents

[spoiler]actually, the British empire had borrowed HEAVILY from the bank of England (a private FOR profit corporation) to finance 4 very costly wars and they needed to raise revenue to pay back the interest to the BOE. when the BOE had noticed the colonies growing prosperous, Benjamin Franklin was asked by the officials at the BOE what was driving this new found prosperity in the colonies and Ben Franklin replied:

"that is simple. in the colonies we issue our own money, it is called colonial scrip. we issue it in proper proportion to the demands of trade and industry to make the products pass easily from producer to consumer. in this manner, creating for ourselves our own paper money, we control its purchasing power and we have no interest to pay to anyone."

well, you can imagine the BOE's horror when they learned that the colonies had discovered the secret of money. so the BOE had parliament pass the currency act of 1764 which forbade the colonial officials from issuing their own money and ordered them to pay all future taxes in Gold or silver.

when that happened Ben Franklin said:

"in one year, the conditions were so reversed that the era of prosperity ended and a depression set in to such an extent that the streets of the colonies were filled with unemployed."

and went on to write in his Autobiography:

the colonies would gladly have borne a little tax on tea and other matters had it not been that England took from the colonies their money, which created unemployment and dissatisfaction. the inability of the colonies to get power to issue their own money permanently out of the hands of George the 3rd and the international bankers was the PRIME reason for the revolutionary war."


now, the MAIN reason most of the world hated England at that time was because of the power of the bank of England over its Government...
