Re: we brits can kiss bye bye to liberty, freedom and privacy!

Hate to break it to you KMA but we never had any of those things in the UK!

We never had freedom, we are citizens of the united kingdom and as such are bound to follow whever dictates the crown or the crowns representatives issue. All that has happened is we have been relabeled from slaves/serfs to citizens.

Privacy never really existed either as the state can and does give itself whatever it needs to intrude on your life. We are seeing more of it now simply because of the ubiquitous presence of technology but it happened just as much 1/2/3 however many years/decades/centuries ago too.

as for liberty well, i refer you to my first point about freedom

if we're going to be technical, then you are indeed correct, the average brit has never had any of the above, however, we have had rights and those rights are (depending on your point of view) slowly disappearing...Orwell's 1984 is more fact than fiction.

as a law abiding and morally conscious citizen/person, i find putting cameras in ANYBODY'S house/home VERY wrong, regardless of how we feel about ANY member of society...

just for the record, i hate chavs as much as the next guy.

People who are real troublemakers deserve that. Afterall...who do they annoy the most? Population. So governement is FINALLY doing something about the scum of society...
I don't get it. When governement does nothing, various complaints and criticism arise, and when they finally act, same happens. Bah, same can happen in every EU states. You got those who defend their enemies for paper and theorical reasons, and those who decide that there is a need for that all to STOP. Like me.

Jim, i couldn't careless if they are the worst of the worst, what's wrong is wrong and 2 wrongs don't make a right!

and if you actually look at the decisions Govts make, its always Govt policy's and NOT what the people want...

ask anybody in the UK if they would like to see policeman on the streets or policeman harassing drivers for going 5 miles an hour to fast or for not wearing a seatbelt and the answer is always the same, leave the motorist alone and put police on the streets where they belong so they can takle true crime, but what's the Govts answer...to put cameras in peoples homes as if thats where they will commit the most crimes...

whats next, sticking a camera around a chavs neck so we can monitor them 24/7?!?!

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Are you so sure? ;)
Well, when gov doesn't act, indeed, he doesn't do like what people want. Depends who we talk about of course. Those defending their "enemies" in the name of good principles abused by said "enemies". Those being neutral (well they always existed :P ). And finally those like me who refuse to let parasites continue as they wish with abusing the system without being punished properly.

Excessiveness towards speed limit I don't agree with, however, what the hell is wrong with police "harrassing" drivers for not wearing seatbelt? NOTHING
Seatbelts exist for a damn good reason afterall...
And from what I heard there are mostly cameras on the streets...so again they do a fine job with it. As long as we don't have to wear chips under skin, I'm totally ok with cameras on the streets!

Re: we brits can kiss bye bye to liberty, freedom and privacy!

If you refer to my metaphoric ways regarding "enemies" part; it was of course fully intended! :P
I just defined a whole "concept" in a single sentence, instead of doing a big huge post. Dig the concept a little, and you will see what I mean! ;)

As for what I said just before that, part about what the gov does. Well, you know...not everyone is anti state in this world! ;) Believe me...there are MUCH MORE people that are happy with such pokings at chavs, (described in the head post of this topic) than you can imagine! ;) Furthermore, many are far from being manipulated blind "ignorants".. :)

Or was it about my comment towards seatbelts? I really don't see what's wrong with enforcing policy regarding them. Seriously...I would rather know that there is a bunch of unhappy whinners, than a crew of "flying dudes" (if they don't have seatbelt on next accident you will see how they can fly lol) driving out there!

Finally, refering to cameras' paragraph. It's well known fact that UK is one of countries with the most cameras on the streets, in this world. :-D Also, I agree with such security as long as there is no chip under skin implemented to honest and "unconvicted" people.

You know, there are people in this world thinking differently as you do.. :P

People not having their seatbelt are a danger...to themselves and to others. If seatbelts were created, that was for a VALID reason.

but surely you cant believe the crap you've been posting? :?

I would be glad you say the EXACT SAME thing to people who suffered car accidents from uncaring people driving without a seatbelt. I'm sure they would appreciate the words! ;)

This deserves a double face palm anyway. Thinking people can foresee their mistake(s) and thus drive carefully without seatbelt...pffft. :?

Anyway, police is a State depending entity (it's not private milice), depending from Interior Minister. Therefore, State cares about what police cares about...even if it's police acting and State "giving the lines".

I am giving up after that one...this is seriously heading nowhere. :?

Pops, you cant do bad guy stuff and then say 'but its ok we're the good guys'

It doesnt work, you either have to be the good guys all the time and not do any bad guy stuff or even bend your laws/rules just to make it easier for you, or you become the bad guys and what you are professing to combat

you dont seem to understand what i'm saying and what is true...

its MY decision if i want to use a seatbelt or any other safety device, not the Govts decision but MINE AND MINE ALONE!

if i CHOOSE not to wear a seatbelt and i have a crash and go flying through the windscreen and go splat on the street, then its MY tough luck, i made MY choice and took MY chances!

I already sumed up this way of thinking.

Those defending their "enemies" in the name of good principles abused by said "enemies".

No wonders fundamentalists and other parasites are doing so well nowadays! That's because of what you exactly said, that there are problems growing up in some countries in Europe.
Don't you think they already know that (what you said) and benefit from this? They abuse every flaw and grey area they can, they know nothing can be done against them, as the other side is the "good one" and therefore cant fight back (if they follow what you said). They know they can carry on their "contamination" to society knowing nobody wouldn't do stuff because it's "not nice", and it's "evil to act"..

Good intentions are being extremly abused, open your eyes man!

So yes, let's remain the good guys doing nothing! (and by this way bowing down to chavs in the name of the oris...oops I meant in the name of principles)
Pffft...

*facepalms*

Oh nice to know you take the decision to risk others lives along yours, instead of listening to BASIC SECURITY LAWS. Like if it costed ANYTHING to wear a seatbelt   (it fortunately does not to wear one though 8) )
Not surprising there's SO MUCH accidents with people thinking like that! *triple facepalm*

If you hit a tree alone, yes. However, if you hit another car, and let's say a guy drove other car and losses his wife who was on passenger sit (only person dieing in the accident). Police tells him "He didn't have a seatbelt". The dude comes to you, and well...you tell him "It was my choice not to wear one, it's not the damn gov to decide for me. I know well enough driving, I don't need people administrating me and deciding for me, I can do it pretty well"...I suppose the policeman will be needed to be reactive enough to avoid the husband attempting to kill you for that event/remark! ;)

Re: we brits can kiss bye bye to liberty, freedom and privacy!

let me explain pops, it means we must stick within our laws even when those laws dont deal with something.

In that case it is up to the country to create a new law to deal with the problem, but the new law should be properly debated in your country's parliment and not brought in with a rubber stamp and a knee jerk reaction.

We have to stick to our principles and our laws or we are no better than the very people we are venting against. It doesnt work if we do 'bad guy stuff' we have to stick to our laws even when they make us uncomfortable or cause us difficulties.

It is the very basis of civilised behaviour
