Seriously, could people please learn to understand the concept of NUANCES before being obnoxious fools replying to EXAMPLES instead of the PRINCIPLES behind the post..
Why the bloody hell do I even bother using analogies for if you people are going to blatantly ignore the points behind them.

This is so true:

Hmm right, sorry then. <_< >_>

Well, I suppose I proved something at least, my sacrifice mentioned earlier wouldn't be a bad thing for "quality" of humanity either! :(
Anyway, what I said about my "sacrifice" wasn't an example.

Also, I highly doubt you and I (and anyone here) will still be alive when countries will try to do eugenics again (well, there are probably some "secret groups" doing that currently, I meant in a "larger scale" by countries)...that will probably start again when people will have "forgotten" about XX th century...

On another note, is the preservation of the human race for future generations worthwhile? Many posts here seem to be built upon the assumption that it is and the main disagreement seems to be an apparent contradiction between survival today and survival tomorrow.

It's not like I'm particularily impressed with humanity, anyway. Suffice to say that it's in a rather sorry state at the moment and perhaps it's time to let it all end naturally, through disease, disaster and war. Only then would there be peace. :)

Humanity will not end throughought those issues. They have been here since civilisations exist. There was the blague plague, the yellow fever, smallpox...humanity survived.
Wishing humanity to disappear is quite...harsh.
IF it was to disappear, let it be throughought a natural way. The ultimate way. Asteroïds. Same as dinosaurs.

You have no idea what nature will use to extinguish the wavering flame of the human race. Who says it's not going to be mass suicides? Several species commit mass suicide when the population gets so far out of control that it creates an imbalance in their habitats..

Ah, Poppy, and how brief the period of "civilisation" is and will have been in a retrospective comparison to the age of the universe. :P

Re: IP-6 & Inositol

Good point, but only insofar as you pointed out the textual ambiguity. If reading it contextually, that is within the context of "humanity", a reference to earth's civilisation, there is little to no ambiguity.

The context is obtainable by reading the posts leading up to my textually ambiguous post.

Furthermore, Pops, I wanted to add that wars on a global scale seem to be a fairly recent phenomenon upon our planet. War could theoretically play an important role in eliminating the "wavering flame of the human race", as Soundwave put it.

However, since World War 2, limits have been drawn, and nuclear weapons are used as defensive more than offensively. (to prevent others to attack). Not to mention the difference of situation compared to Society of Nations era, and current one. Everyone knows a nuclear war would be terrible in losses, but also that its chances are much smaller than in 1930s.

Re: IP-6 & Inositol

Well, regulations are only followed insofar as they are convenient to follow. It certainly did not seem convenient for the US to adhere to UN law when they initiated the Iraq war.

The point is, if there were another world war, the technology is there to create damage that goes beyond anything seen in war thus far, with the exception of the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, perhaps. Furthermore, nuclear weapons are not required to eliminate a large portion of the world population. Military technology has evolved in all areas since our last world war.

Biological weapons seem like a logical next choice, especially if they can be blamed as having been caused by a pandemic. Heck, if I were a genocidal maniac, I'd use a virus. It's like a nano-nano replicator. It's the coolest weapon in existence!!!

*ahem*

Can we leave the ethics, genocide, moral dilemmas and name calling to another thread. Glad to see you agree. Just remember.. children who cannot play properly in my forums lose their toys.

Now... IP-6 & Inositol?

Re: IP-6 & Inositol

At this point, we might as well rename this thread.

But hey, maybe someone IS willing to discuss this. I've heard of other alleged cures for cancer, but this one doesn't sound familiar, and it's not nearly as exciting to talk about as genocide. It think it was made of apricot pits. Mmm.

One of the interesting things I recently read was about doing the opposite of what we've been doing. At current one of the main practises has been to decrease the flow of oxygen to the cancerous tumour.. on the other hand..recent studies have found that increasing the oxygen flow actually increases the effect of treatment a third fold? I think it was higher, but I will play my cards safe and double down on a third.

On the other hand the herbal remedies... are a tricky subject. I have heard so much about these sorts of things curing so many ailments yet on the other hand they have been useless. At the same time though.. I am more often than not very willing to give them a chance as ultimately a lot of the things we use in modern medicine have come from natural substances and our science is even in it's great dogmatic state of mind, still very ignorant as to everything in the universe.

If it harms you.. seek some real research into it. If not.. use this Inositol, why not? No harm.. no foul.. and at the same time it may keep you a live and kicking!
