techs, UUs, Trained Units, Naq, ATs, UP, and Attack/Defense weapons are lost. I think you will keep your lifers. If you have more Untrained/Trained Units and naq required for ascension you can offer your extra Units/Naq and ATs as a trade to a trusted player so you don't have to lost it after ascension. Also don't forget to sell your weapons, and add that to your Naq trade.
Also if you have a commander, remember their ID, cause you will not become their officer when you ascend, after you ascend go find your commander and make him/her your commander again. Alliances I am not sure about.
you do NOT lose your planets or Mothership (including your motherships Attack/Defense weapons). You probably hear wroung about the Losing Your MotherShip, they probably say that you will lose your MotherShip Techs instead. You have to re-upgrade all your tech on the technology page when you ascend.
