Ascention Requirements Buggy

Just wait - perhaps tomorrow at the admin meet we can have Jason have a look at it (the game admin/owner). Perhaps he's got another idea of what it could be (or look at the logs for the issue).

Hey, sorry for the double post, but some things have developed that brought to light the fact that my account has a TON more bugs in it that even I had suspected. lol

Looking at a fresh new account... it has all the functionality that I thought the upgrades took away months ago... guess that this account just LOST IT in the upgrade process.

An example is that the attack pages look totally different from one acct to the other. The new one shows those 3 buttons for spying and stuff whereas this acct here went to 'plain jane' forever ago and hardly EVER shows anyone marked as on ppt when you click on their names, and you have to set it up and click to attack them before it tells you that you can't do it.

***my betamonkey comment so I don't feel so much like I really wasted the last few DAYS of working this problem out, and the last few months of putting up with bugs:
Its probably mostly tied into the subroutine for making the pages LOOK custom instead of using the standard stuff given out currently for new accounts. ie: Preferences and background graphics stuff. (Probably an improper accidental mixing of the code languages, and some are being misread while other parts close by in line sequence are skipped over and ignored altogether by the main program typically.)

perhaps I unraveled a pretty big mess today here...
at least now I know that it should be possible for admin to go back and figure out what caused the problems that I've had, along with lots of other players, making the game not so much fun any more... (most of my complaints are in topics without response and resolution from the research I've done on the messageboard before getting it to let me post)... *btw... yes, I found the workaround for it NOT letting me post if anyone is interested or someone else has the same problem with it in the future. lol* *pats self on back for that one*

Hey... maybe they could even get a lot of people who gave up and walked away to come back and play again if they would just fix SOME of the more annoying bugs... that would be sweet, then my friends might stop laughing me for NOT quitting SGW when they gave up on it ever working right and moved on...

Nawwww.... too much to ask for... the game owners wouldn't go to that much trouble just to get the active player numbers up... they're probably happy with things like they are... not so many players to bug them about the bugs if they all walk away

It does pay to be stuborn sometimes tho...
Now I have some relief in the fact that I figured out the puzzle I was faced with!

Hope these details might help some other poor sucker to feel better when they read it and are in the same situation I was in here... Just to know they aren't alone in their agony.

Wow, so maybe that's why you can't, because ascension isn't registered with the account. That's a pretty major glitch for any account.

Hope the Admin can get the old account fixed for ya

Awh, I'm not so worried about the account itself at this point... its been trashed over and over because of the buggs that I'd just as soon to start fresh and build a clean one. I at least enjoy building. The manor in which my choices were registered at the time of the upgrades to the background itself was enough to get the ball rolling tho... and I'm not so sure it could be actually FIXED right at this point since the buttons aren't even there to UNmake the choices I had went with so long ago in pref. Most of you wouldn't even recognize my command page and background as being SGW! lol

In a couple of weeks, when I get the new account to the point of being able to ascend, at least I'll have only lost those 16k gnr points for my TIME that I'll never get back to use for points in my ascended charactor... oh well, easy come easy go.

I'll leave this account here all messed up just like it is instead of attempting to repair it tho, now that I know what started the bizare happenings... so that way Jason or Sarevok can examine it for their own curiosity lol ...

My son refuses to play SGW so he told me today, but my business partner said that if I can repair the old account that he will buy it from me for the price of a candybar so he can learn to play it. lolol... will need permission from admin tho since his only com is at the office and I sign in there at times myself for my own acct... would be one of those cases where it would look awkward to both use the same com on breaks or lunch to play. Think they'll give me a break like that guys??? Hope So! I'd sure hate to have to teach this computer illiterate guy how to get a NEW acct off the ground! lol

Hmmm... hadn't really considered that he might be ABLE to do that actually... since most games require the tally to add up, and simply adding things to someone's account have to come from some calculation thats being ran somewhere in their acct info section of the server... or taken from one acct and given to another as in general assets and stuff like that...

I'd just settle for not getting banned by the auto cheater catcher program at this point tho. lol. It gave me a nasty little message last night when I signed out of the new acct and into the old one to compare the battlefield pages in separate tabs to find out what the bugs are connected to... and how much is being blocked on my old account that can't be seen to check boxes etc.

Oh well, maybe I'll get lucky!

TRM, one word of advise: request per e-mail (I believe it had to go to urgent@stargatewars.com, but not sure - can someone help out here?) an IP-exception - there's the odd chance that Jason wants to you both online at MSN at the same time to check if there's no fraud - but I think he won't, certainly not if you refer to this topic.
Also, officially you get 1 day after having created the new account to give the account to someone else - but I guess you didn't know of it, and I think Jason will understand.

That's the one. But i wouldn't think you would get banned for it straight away... I use a Uni access also, and i doubt that no one else is using SGW's on it too... Plus, my group have almost all logged on at one person's house, and we weren't banned. And we share an alliance too.

Yes Sarevok - but an Uni group won't be banned straightaway, since even IF the group would be one and the same, it's just too easy to say there are fellow students he/she knows who play too But that's different from logging in at work and home
