To get away from the current threads dominating the General section for a bit I'd like to get people's opinions / concerns.
As we know the Autoban is currently a pain in the ass for many users, especially those actively in war and playing the game.... erm.... the way it's supposed to be played, i.e. not cheating!
It is also abundantly clear that there is a severe lack of Game Admin activity when it comes to Autobans.
I'm all for the Autoban system, and if it is to remain the way it is then I am still all for it even if it does autoban innocent players. I don't feel it is the Autoban system that is actually at fault, I feel the real issue is the lack of Game Admin activity in responding to Autobans and unbanning players as soon as practicable.
There is currently a player banned who has been banned for 4 days now, I believe if I recall correctly that this is the longest an autoban has gone unresolved, but I could be wrong. I personally feel this is unacceptable, Autobans should last no longer than 24hrs.
I have spoken to Jason myself about this several times, and he either chases Mark up to get him on here, which he does for like a few days then disappears again, or he tells me that in reality there have only been like 3 autobans in the week, which compared to the number of players is not much. I agree it is not much, but the issue I believe is not players getting autobanned, but players having to wait upto 4 days or more to get their account back and resume playing again without any compensation but a PPT.
I would like to hear people's opinions on this and their concerns.
Is the Autoban Script the real issue or is it the lack of Game Admins availability to resolve these in a respect time frame. Do you think either of these need serious fixing. Just what are your opinions?
This is not an opportunity to insult anyone (Game Admin or other), no spamming, just provide your thoughts.
My intention is to try and put all of the opinions and concerns together and present them to Jason if possible.
I will monitor this thread very closely, so please keep it on topic. I have placed this in General because it is related to ingame stuff, and I prefer it to be here where more people visit. Please do not move it to For Admin.

as i just said in another thread, clarkey, you should be given powers to unban those who have been playing honestly and caught by a loophole in the autoban.

I agree, a stronger admin presence that is capable of sorting out these issues quickly is needed. Not only to sort out these issues but also to make the public feel more confident when these issues come up.
When the admin are on they do a great job of sorting it out quickly and efficiently.
Compared to the number of players there arnt many auto bans but some might argue 1 is too many.
Still its always fun when you get lore auto banned...
Interesting idea by aesthetics of hate...
Edit: seems a couple of people are agreeing with giving Clarkey the power to help with this. I would say i would back that but only after hearing what jason and the other admins have to say on the matter.

There must be away to give someone limited access to unban those who are banned there must be so someone could be given that they wouldst have access to the rest of the server eg like scripts just limited access to it just to deal with un banning's.

Dunno i was thinking that might be quite hard really, and admin SHOULD have quite a lot to do right now. Definatly worth putting forward to them though

make a page and password protect it- give some people(clarkey + original admins) the password. this page would names, ids of all players and the word banned or unbanned. admins could go on and ctrl+f the id needed and change there banned status- or something like that if im not mistaken

If the database handling code would be well written, there wouldn't be any need for these "scripts". I would rather encourage admin to write it properly, instead of patching it and leaving the entire game alone for days.

There is still the issue of -a few- legitimate autoban-bans..
In any case.. go go GameAdmin. Let's get ourselves an extra one. (Jason! Reassess your hiring policies.)

Re: Opinions on current state of affairs - Game Admins
if only it was that simple.
I have no prob with jason or mark but i have never been banned so i wouldnt, but many others do.
If they have a probelm with a player becoming a game admin to unban players who need it then thats there porb

Which would be why the point is to get Jason to hire another new Game Admin..

I agree, no player should be a game admin, but who said that if a new game admin was appointed that played the game that they would still play the game?

This is true, but I've never heard about any "legitimate" autobans.
Maybe I'll ask Jason next time I see him.

Re: Opinions on current state of affairs - Game Admins
Rewrite the autoban script, rather than it automatically ban for neqative naq let it run through a check first, if the time of banking correlates to the time of an incoming attack just revert the transaction from the bank to break the balance to even, same with defenders. otherwise if there was no incoming attack at the exact moment of banking then autoban the account.
I'm not sure if it's possible to run a script to check the exact moments but if it is that would seem the obvious solution?

Re: Opinions on current state of affairs - Game Admins
I feel that the Game Admins have turned away from this game. I fear that if they do not get back into this, the game will come to an eventual end. New accounts just aren't comming around as much as it used to.
There needs to be changes to the game itself, one even might include doing a whole rearrangement to the Game Admin Team, as they have been a real dissapointment as of late.
Jason makes enough money off this game, and I have yet to see something given back to the community.

Re: Opinions on current state of affairs - Game Admins
That would depend on their contract, but is quite likely to prevent them from playing. However.. I would urge to consider anonymity for such a person, or a rather open name like "GameMod".Clarkey wrote:SuperSaiyan wrote:players should not be allowed to do anything ingame, it prevents the "your biased" nonsense that WILL occur

Consider this.. how likely is it for a legitimately autobanned player to come to the forums to complain?Clarkey wrote:Universe wrote:There is still the issue of -a few- legitimate autoban-bans..

Re: Opinions on current state of affairs - Game Admins
autoban is there with a reason(if u attack a negative naq account that attacks gets hacked with bills of uu or tril naq)
i can be wrong with the motive but i doubt that
so in no way to remove autoban
but yes waiting few days for unbaning is a pain in the ass and admin team should work harder to unban people
but no way a player from this game should have this ability
