Request: No Main Race Forums Usergroup

so in an RP game we're potentially cutting out the section that was designed to keep Race RP alive?

No.

As long as people are not placed in the No Race Forum Usergroup by default then everyone will see the Race Forums.
It is then down to their own personal choice whether they want to be in the Usergroup or not.

Personally if I was not Admin I would be happy enough to add myself to a "No Race Forums" Usergroup.

I wonder if someone will ask for a "no archive usergroup" or no "market usergroup".
With how it's going currently, I wouldn't even be surprised incase someone requested it!

General and GC and Market is frequented by a lot of people, considerably higher than the ascension and race forums.
Also For Admin is an important part of the forums and ingame therefore it should always be visible.

If someone that was in a "No For Admin" Usergroup happened to be reported in For Admin as a possible cheat then they may never be aware of it. Therefore For Admin should not become a Usergroup.

Well that's just being plain stupid isn't it.

Someone could be mentioned in any section of the forum, yet there are sections that have a "No User Group".

The point is SS that everyone will be able to see the race section unless they choose not to.

Why do you feel the need to force everyone to have access to a section that they do not need to have access to.

General (inc GC) and For Admin will "never" have a "No" User Group.

I am not saying it is of no relevance.

How can giving the race section a "No" User Group kill the Race Forums if the people that add themselves to the "No" User Group have no intention of ever using the Race Forums anyway?

You may be bickering but I am not, I am countering your arguments as to whether there should be a user group or not.

It honestly would not kill the race forums, because those that dont want to use it will be the ones to put themselves in that group.

back when we started playing, we didnt play main, and thus, at the time, such group would have been valid for us...

in fact, all of market, for admin, main race sections, market and GC were irrelevant to us back then...

for some it would actually be nice not to see market... especially if they like to keep everything marked "read"...

So I ask you this, why go through the trouble to make ANOTHER group to exclude MORE forums from users eyes. It would be good for them to look into the race sections and see what RP is all about.

It is no trouble to do it.

The people that join the "No" User Groups are those THAT DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT FORUM.

If people don't want to see it that's their choice. The forums front page is very long and I can understand why some people would rather not have to scroll down so much when they don't use parts of the forum, and if they look at the "view new posts" options and see a loads of posts from sections they don't want to visit.

rofl.. one look at the Race Forums and people will run away screaming "omg omg no roleplay plz don't killl my brain it sucks so much".

Whereas a good look at the Chapel of Roleplay results in a very different kind of screams.



Basically:
Race Forums = Spam.
Chapel of Roleplay = Actual roleplay.

Yelling "IMAGOD" doesn't constitute roleplaying.

in the past, the race section was a haven of roleplay...
recently, there has been pretty much no roleplay there...

we hope that with the roleplay done in the chapel of roleplay, it will start up again in other sections of the forums as well...

people take the game way too seriously these days... and that makes the game extremely dull...

Unlike some may broadcast in the Race Forums, everyone is entitled to free choice. Therefore is it not up to the individual player to choose whether or not they wish to view the questioned sections of the forum? Not all players are the main races, therefore they ought to have the option to hide the Race Forums. Not all players are ascended or play on Ascended therefore they should not have to view it.

On the flip side, all players should have to see General and Admin etc, as those sections are valid to everyone playing the game. If a player doesn't want to see those sections they why bother using the forum at all.

all the no access groups are now operational...

warnings about the dangers of joining them have been added... (like the possibility of unknowingly being accused of cheating or not being able to see bugs, or the loss of the option to take part in the good natured and easy roleplay that frequents the race sections...)

the only sections not to receive such groups are general (due to announcements section), archives (too far down and not all that active anyways, so matters little...), and misc... (saw no need for a group removing that...)
