I think it's more likely used as a scapegoat to accuse everything/everyone of being "disciples of nazism/fascists" by people who yell continuously about everyone who aren't thinking like them, therefore being fascists for this non-ideology sharing, because they aren't hardcore leftists or hardcore antiracists (the paranoid ones seeing racism everywhere, and falling into the victimisation of some communities. Like if only the bad white people ex colonialists fascist esclavagists ever practiced racism) in example..
There is racisms, there is extremisms still nowadays...but when you tend to see it everywhere for every little thing, you lose your credibility. That was a message towards concerned people.
