Defenses increased, twice.

1st.

Defense has increased slightly in that you must have 30% (opposed to 25% previous) of the defense value in attack value, in order to damage the defender.
Additionally, if you are much weaker than the defender, less weapon damage is taken. It used to be a altered by attack/defence, now it is altered by attack/defense cubed..to a minimum of .5% of normal (or 200% of normal if you are more powerful than the defender).[/spoiler]

Race Changes..

[spoiler]June 2009 - Race Changes & Enhancements
Due to external factors beyond our control, we had to remove the ability to pick specific races on registration. This, while unfortunate, led to a great enhancement. You can now customize your own race!
Details:
1) Name you race whatever you want. It is your race after all. You do this in the 'race change' link, bottom of main command page, and it is free for now.
2) Pick your race bonus (race personality type or just personality type). This bonus is listed, and is similar to how things used to work for any given race prior to the change. For ascended races, it is also the same --whatever your bonus before, it is still. ONLY if you change to a non-ascended bonus will you lose your ascended bonuses. For the ascended races, these are all of equal value/strength, so switching between bonuses is fine -no penelty to change. Regular races, though, lose all techs & weapons in order to change.
3) Pick your race technology path. This will dictate what type of technologies you can research, which weapon types are available, etc. For the ascended races, these are all of equal value/strength, so switching between them is fine -no penelty to change. Regular races, though, lose all techs & weapons in order to change.
4) Pick your race social structure. This will dictate what variety of beings you are - from nano replicating machines, to human, to symbiote/parasite posing as a god! It is this racial contributing factor that dictates which 'navigation menu' you use. For the ascended races, these are all of equal value/strength, so switching between them is fine -no penelty to change. Regular races, though, lose all techs & weapons in order to change.


The other changes you will note, are:
* Bank Fee for non-income bonus races from 5% to 2%.
* In your officer management section (click 'officers' on main page, if you have them), you have a new 'request officer report' option (eye image) that gives you what others would see if they successfully spied on them. It is saved in your intelligence report as 'officer report'. One covert operative gathers the report.
* some of the images have changed to honor the request of the copyright holder.
* covert levels AND units are reduced in price with the covert bonus (used to be just levels).[/spoiler]
