So what if the "massive player base in America PPT over night"? It's not like they can attack you while your sleeping anyway...
If you really need to wait until your target is asleep to strike at them, then i believe you need more skill/practice in online wars.
This wouldn't be able to be applied for EVERY night of the week, just even 4, similar to PPT, but allowing you to farm when your not sleeping/work would be fine. In reality, favoring the LESS active, as it means they can farm when they are able, and don't have to sprint out of bed to the PC to check if they've been massed over night.

I for one am against this 'Night PPT'.. The point is not honour or decency of hitting someone while they asleep, it's about taking advantage of their inactivity during their sleeping hours. There's nothing wrong with that as it's a simple tactic which is very effective. During the day the player can just log on every hour or so, bank and carry on with whatever they are doing, which decreases the amount of naq for farmers to steal. However at night they cannot wake up to bank, giving the farmers the advantage. The skill is being able to manage yourself before you make with the ZzZzZ. Such as turning off banners, switching on Nox and setting on critical. Nox makes massing a defence so tiring and boring, so u've got the advantage there, also you could just sell your weapons, store the naq and buy em agen in the morning. U lower your losses substantially in terms of naq UU and your MS. U've just got to place simple strategies in place to defend yourself. You can't expect to have a squeeky clean Defence everyday you wake up, then you're not playing the game as it should be played. This is a war game. Placing an iron curtain up every time you sleep will just make the game more and more dull.. Soon only n00bs and inactives will be farmed and wars will only be fought over political disputes.

Just my opinion on the matter. I think a better suggestion could be a 'sitter'. Someone who has legal access to your account from a different timezone who can bank for you while your asleep. Restrict the Sitters functionality on the account allowing him/her to use your account for very few uses.. but anyway, thats another topic.

Your better off taking the risk, considering its more then 50% losses..

Yes because selling your weapons means you do a grand total of about 12 damage to the attack, while they destroy all the trained defense units, then destroy the MS at will, then kill your covert as you STILL have no defense, and THEN they sab any weapons you may have left. You account is then almost 0ed, so planet stripping can be done even more easily, since you then can't rebuild to get the fleets to re-take the weapons...

This is a war game.

And as such, most people don't have the skill to take down a defense which is more then 50% of their attack, unless the person can't fight back because their sleeping/working. Sounds like a real war, attack while the person is helpless, more like bully tactics

Right, and the iron curtain which so nicely protects all attack units from being killed is quite ok, but an iron curtain for a defense, which in most cases has the advantage in real life, is unacceptable.

I do understand your point Sarevok. But having protection at your beck and call which allows u to 'hide' isn't really fun(lack of a better word). I would say it's all about learning and gaining experience. I've had my account smashed to nothing besides Miners. I ofcourse was very upset, but from that u've gotta learn how to prevent it from happening next time. If u paint a target on yourself then ofcourse u would be massed, like i said, u've gotta know how to defend yourself. Not only by means of pure defence where the enemy cannot touch you.

Look I'm not saying that if it were implemented i would throw up an uprising, it's a good suggestion and good idea, but in terms of this game i don't think it would be appropriate.

Yes well that does work well in games were timing is a key factor. When you have to be online to move resources and units around.
Not really necessary for this game.

I have to agree, the multi abuse would go through the roof.

And zizi710, it wasn't a personal attack. I think people are seeing it as a way to cover yourself for 7 days a week. Where as what i would suggest to change, is to allow effectively 32 hours of allocatable PPT. Such that you can PPT over night, but farm in the day. The only real difference, is it allowed activity essentially between PPTs, instead of waiting 48 hours, or even 96. Just be able to PPT whilst at work, or asleep, and play actively while you have the time.

It would also allow for people to take an emergency few hours from the game if needed. And since it may only last for 8 hours, you dont have to worry about breaking PPT just to participate in a war that was starting in the next 24 hours

That way people won't abuse the night PPT by switching it on at night, playing during the day, then taking 1 or 2 full PPT's another time in the week making them almost indestructible.

60 / 8 = 7.5 nights...
I would say more like 32-40 hours. 32 = 4*8 (which is really 2 * 48 hours ppts for nights). And 40, just so that, you can have an extra 8, for either a sleep, or whilst at work (like if you work Saturday, while most others are probably playing

Exactly, IMO, i don't see why we should be able to just PPT for 4 nights of the week, instead of PPT for 4 nights AND days But at the same cost of 2MT total...

I presume (don't know if it's already been asked.. as I cba reading entire thread)..
that these 12 hours.. would be subtracted from the 48hour weekly maximum..which would simply require the market to allow you to purchase 1/2 ppt as opposed to forcing you to buy both halves.

In a manner of speaking, except the total time is 96 (2x48(2days))

But doing it that way, would allow people to be protected every night of the week, and since most people (not myself), want to be able to attack whilst others are sleeping/working, a (in a manner of speaking) "pool" of hours, from which people can draw from, but limited to about 32-40 hours, is what is being suggested now (instead of originally, just over night)
