Selling accounts...

I was just having a quick random browse and I realised a point.

An account stuck in a war.. would be worth less than a free account. Now.. this can be debated or refuted by opinions and personal preference.. but I feel it necessary for an account seller to stress on their account sales whether they're in a war or not.

It could very well be considered conning someone if they by an account for a great deal of cash but be unable to do anything for fear of being sat on.

it's just a thought.. but i think it a matter of a rule needed to make it a contingent part of being able to advertise account sales on here.

Unfortunately where as some people may not agree with accounts being treated like this Zeratul.. they are indeed treated like such. I have heard stories more than a handful of times where bought accounts have not been allowed out of wars...if only to punish the current owner.

Policing this would be too difficult and time-consuming for the market mods. Anyone with common sense will check things like that anyway, and anybody whose stupid enough not to deserves to have their new account sat on.

Well said Mordack. I agree with the jest of the idea, but the reality is, if you get conned, its your own fault. There is a great wealth of information out there if you just take the time to use it.

are the rule makers not here to do their best to insure that does not happen? It's not necessarily a great degree of extra effort. I point you sceptics to something from Star Wars... called the Tarkin doctrine. Have a look at it on wookiepedia.

I think.. if you can do something to potentially improve some aspect of the forum and game, then you should as it's your job and responsibility.

You have a responsibility to look after the forums and be figure heads for 'just' behaviour. If the mod team.. does not represent a group of individuals who can do one simple act to make one thing easier for the general user and to help avoid traps for innocent bystanders.. why won't you do it?

Can the buyer demand compensation? A cancellation of the deal?

As long as there are no consequences to withholding information, every rational buyer has zero incentive to state that their account is at war.

OE has always asked their playes who sell an acount to mention it is from the omegan empire and involved in the server war.

that however was our choice as an empire. wheter or not a seller does it is entirely up to them. but then again a buyer should always take the time to check if the acount is in war etc etc. there are ways to do that

How about a guidlines for information to give when selling an account? Like in the sig request section:

1) What is the army size?
1m
2) Is it in a war?
yes

Etc

This will as mentioned before cut down spam as often the first post in an account selling thread is "whats the MS? is it in a war?" etc.

Alright, but nobody has yet to explain how the market mods would police this. Do we personally check the IDs of every account for sale to verify whether or not they're in a war? What if an account has left the alliance related to a war but is still on the runners list of the other alliances involved? Do you individually contact all of the alliances in the game which are at war to check that the account in question isn't on any of their lists?

Impossible to implement.

I'm comfortable with sticking it there somewhere as a guideline, to encourage people who are selling to remember to include it, but I'm 100% against adding it as an official rule for the reasons already stated.

there is no way to police it, just as for sig requests not everyone follows the guidlines for a request, however putting something there as a guidline of info will have more people inclined to follow it, it doesn't hurt to have it there and even if 2-3 people use it its better than nothing imo

it also will help the cut down on people asking for silly things that should be given in the first post anyway and yes it will help decrease the spam imo
