Gradual Exploitation of Glitches

The lines between "glitches" and "features" are so blurred its not even funny. It is impossible for us to know as a players what admin intended to be hidden features and what he did not. So to judge whether someone is exploiting a bug, or utilising a feature is impossible. It would be better if the definitions were clearer so honest players know what they should/shouldn't do.

Yes, that is a good example. It took so long that I thought that was a feature that admin was aware of and that he had decided to leave in place. I'd even gone as far as considering that it might be a good tactic to use myself at one point. Fortunately I decided that the stat bonus was more important than the income bonus at the time. I still don't think it would have been wrong to make use of that feature/glitch at the time though.

Another example, the broker "feature" from way back that allowed people to push their armies above the limits. Famously used by Dean_S and friends (as well as a lot of other players from all the major alliances at the time). Eventually the admins closed that loophole, but it was deemed that those who had used it previously had not broken the rules and thus were not punished. Exploiters? Cheaters? or players making the most of the game mechanics? Everyone has their own opinion on it.

What always aggervated me about these situations was admin knew ahead of time, was told repeatedly, allowed it until enough people cried out and then removed it, BUT NEVER makes official stances condoning or forgiving the use of it.

Thats leaves food for the consperacy theorist and antagonist to bring up over and over and over.

Shouldn't have put it in to your MS anyway, should have sent it to one of the admin accounts on permanent PPT. Then you should have reported it immediately, not wait for someone to hit you and then raise the issue.

If you care to have read my post thoroughly you would have noted that I did infact report the issue immediately, however it was not seen to. Just like a great proportion of emails sent to administration.

As for sending the naquadah to an administrator account, a reasonable suggestion to make when you do not consider the sheer vastness of naquadah that was there to be sent. It would have taken quite a while to do such and my account was at risk of being attacked itself. In addition, I don't recall admins game account name now, and didn't then. What I did was the quickest most logical means of removing hundreds of quadrillions of naquadah from the server whilst minimizing the advantage the account (or any) would have.

So please don't get on your high horse of justice.
