general discussion about the education system.

in my many musings about the NWO (dont worry, this ISN'T a discussion about the NWO, or conspiracy's lol ) and how they control the education system and curriculum whereby education has been standardised, i was thinking, would schools and education in general be better off in the hands of local authority's?

wouldn't competition between 1 local authority and another cause local authority's to push for a better standard of education because of fear of being out-competed by other local areas?
i mean, if you have 2 local authority's adjacent to each other and see that everyone is moving out of 1 area to another because of a better standard of education, wouldn't that be better than what we have now?
should Govt even be allowed to run the national curriculum and education system??

there are also many side benefits which i haven't touched on such as housing, local economies and whatnot.

anyways....

Re: general discussion about the education system.

I don't work where I have had my education. In fact, I think most people move away from the places where they had their education to work.. if only because of the idea of making a new start after being educated, starting a career, leaving Uni-life behind you.. :?

Re: general discussion about the education system.

this is true, but we only grow up in areas because of our parents and where they set-up shop.

i was born and raised in Islington London and at 1 point wouldn't have dreamed of leaving central London, but that all changed when Mrs G got pregnant. when that happened, we immediately started looking for better areas (better as in, quieter with better schools) to move to.

Re: general discussion about the education system.

Sometimes its just job requirements and/or having what you want to study only in one part of the country (like in my case). My home town has great uni's for building ships and such. Here is one of the best uni's for linguistics and lingual studies...Also i will be moving yet again if i find a better spot to work in, if necessary...

Ah, fair enough.
Personally, I've always (well, since I was 7) dreamt of leaving, both the Netherlands (or our Glorious Banana Republic), and Europe. Wanted to live in Finland at the time, so we went to Finland for a month during Summer and a month of Winter.. marvellous, and quite sufficient to make me love it for holidays, but not as permanent residence.
Then, I went as far as wanting to leave Earth (age 12). Designed a spaceship. Ah well, now I love moving from place to place, freedom. And a few 'safehouses' of my family. Good stuff. Tied down by some work for now, for as long as the likes of Goldman screw this world over. :) Have to help my fellow humanoid brethren. :|

That said, I understand you'd look into moving if you'd lived in a specific place your whole life, but are pregnant. :)

Re: general discussion about the education system.

The EU is only good if you close you'r eyes and think of another place, its what the rest of the world (besides France and Germany) are doing. NOTHING has improved in my country since we're in the EU, actually, come to think of it some people and professions have been lost due to certain "standards and appreciations" of the EU.

Anyway : My answer is NO. Tbh i don't agree with competition as a way of education or improvement. If you want to be the best at something do it for yourself not to beat some other guy/kid. Its this type of concept that makes people corrupt (I NEED to be better than the other, BY ANY WAY) and makes the youths of our nations the next Blackwater CEOs...

No, really.. *chuckle* And by really.. I mean really..
*facepalm* You just listed the main reason to leave Europe.
And the fact that I've seen it.

Pfft.

@Avenger: Sorry. Yes, the educational system across the Western world sucks. Primarily because of the limitations of the teachers. When I was able to read, I had lessons from some **Filtered** who had basic education and nothing else. That was insufficient, the poor child couldn't understand the way I looked at the world in the slightest. (*grin* No, not because I didn't see the **Filtered** we're in, collectively..)
As far as propaganda is concerned, the educational system is the place to start. Young and impressionable minds. So is it any wonder then that private initiatives in that regard are shunned by governments? Out of the eye of the government is out of control of the government, and who knows what kind of things you'll teach those kids.

It's a big shock.

I'm also serious...why would you want to leave Europe? (given the following)
I thought the same in past, I was wishing to go elsewhere, then I've decided to inform myself about rest of the world...and I came to this conclusion. There's different things outside, but not better.
And what's so better than Europe then?

You know...USA is also suffering from massive immigration, as well as Australia now does. It's not only an European thing lol. Russia, United States, Canada, Australia, Europe...it's all under massive immigration. And what I meant was tourism, not immigration (why would it be a positive factor?). #-o Lol...

There...is...NO...escape! Every more or less appealing country is subject to massive immigration. Only Japan doesn't really suffer from it, but well they are bit overpopulated there. The fallacious mirage that only Europe is under immigration isn't accurate, USA has been for a long time the main target of immigrants. Now they also discovered the country in the north of USA and its Canada's turn lol.

Ask brdavs then, he's not from France or Germany, but from a newly joined country. He doesn't seem to have that opinion.

Re: general discussion about the education system.

There's a problem if education was based on local authorities. You would have to control them to avoid having fallacious things being used in programs, and subjective local stances on a matter, and many other things. It would also force you to work around the place you studied, because then, expect diploms and similar things not to be recognized by the county-next-door. In the end it would be a big failure.

Re: general discussion about the education system.

eh? :?

i'm not suggesting all schools be run by authorities be exempt from any kind of regulations. obviously a national standard would have to be put in place, but that standard should be put in place by head teachers and not some Govt appointed/run body. and this would only apply to normal schools, specialist schools catering for physical/mental disability's could implement something similar for them, but again, Govt should play no part.
