Wa working on my MS today and came up with an idea for the motherships to make it more interesting when fighting agianst another one.
You have the following things that you can build in your mother ship.
Energy Volley Offense Weapons
Maximum Volley Capacity
Energy Shields Generators
Maximum Shield Capacity
My idea is to expand on both the Attack and Defence.
Instead of just having one type of weapon/shield have multiple.
Each one made to do damage on on a different part of the mother ship.
So for examnple have different types of shields.
Have an over shield that protects from the main attack from the attacking mother ship, the over shield will last until dead leaving only one shield left that would be the under shield.
So you have to kill both parts to the Shields to break it down.
With the attack part it is along the same lines, but each attack weapon.
Lets just say there is 3 types of attack weapons.
Weapons 1: Cost more to build slots for, mabye 2 to 3 times the cost of the normal, but it pumps out alot more power then the normal attack weapon and this weapon is made to take out the over shield.
Weapon 2: Made to take out the under shield and is alot cheaper to purchase.
Weapon 3:Made to attack the heavy attack weapons on the mother ship so weapons 1,2 and 4 will do no damage to the enemy mother ships shields.
Weapon 4: Will attack both shields and attack weapons do equal damage to all.
The enemy will have there mothership that will do the same damage back to the attacking mother ship with there weapons and shields.
so if the defending mother ship has 100,000 over shield slots that are all purchased and lets say they put out 300bil power and the attacking mother ship has 100,000 of Weapon1 and puts out the same power as the over shields, but the defending mother ship has bigger amount of Weapon4 the over shields will be able to beat the Weapons1 attack leaving only weapon4 to be able to kill the def and so on.
Just an example may not be the best idea of what they do.
Have any better ideas of how to set it out post it up.

so dont you think us who pump $$ into our MSes couldnt just buy lots of nak
couldnt take a HUGE advantage to this and just buy the weapons wich cost SOOOOO MUCH MORE giving us an even bigger advantage

What can i say Harchester, thats the way you play, along with many others who play, they only get enjoyment out of the game if they have the advantage over everyone one else and they only way you can do that is by spending big amounts of $$
Look at the people with 2tril plus MS's, they dont work hard to get it to that level they spend $$, You dont put the time and effort into making it big buy farming the naq you buy it with $$.
Maybe they should make it that you can buy Naq of the $$ market, or limit it down to one $50 of each item a month

Ok stuff the posts above that i did, apart from the first one, Who cares if people can build em bigger, Look at it now some people have big some people dont we still all manage, this all just means that we will be able to do more damage to there MS's.

im not sure i fully understand it but i do like the idea of different portions for different jobs. It seems like youd actually have to think about it rather than just a big wins small loses situation. Kind of evens out the MS issue.

I think it is a good idea mate.
Rather then just, whomever has the largest amount wins, it's more strategic.
You could have your front liners, whom beat down the over-shield of the enemies, then your second wavers, whom go in, and take down the under shield, and weapons. Alliances can also have counter-MS (if that makes sense), which main focus is primary shield, and weapon-class-4. Designed solely for when someone attacks the alliance, to kill as much main shield weapons as possible in 1 hit, to help soften the blow for the other members.

Without getting into the big $$ argument, Harch is right, big $$$ spenders will just just a fresh option starting at low prices to pump their money into.
The $$$ problem will only be solved with a shake up of the broker system, either by limiting it to a fair price range ( ie 1 Trill naq for 1 UU cant be done, trades must be for with price ranges like 1 Trill naq for between 800K and 1.2 Mill UU ) or if private trade brokers are abolished and replaced with a anonymous game broker system where all ingame bids and offers are listed like in another game Im am not allowed to 'advertise' by naming. The give resource option would also have to be removed or limited to very small amounts.
As for the MS suggestion itself, it sounds quite good if $$$ are taken out of the equation. But I still prefer my own suggestions of
1) Multiple MSs and Multiple MS mission settings ( limiting MS to either att or def or planet protection or exploration, only doing one thing at a time ).
and
2) Adding a power source ( Naq Reactors ) to power shields and weapons, say 100 shields and 100 weapons require 100 Reactors for use and costs x amount of naq per turn and per att/def use to as fuel. This would of course have to come with a 1 time only chance to redistribute current weapons / shield so that MS are not left with lots of weapons / sheilds unusable due to power shortage.
and
3) Alliance fleets ( where many MS can be set to fleet command, and put under the control of the alliance members currently set as Admiral ).
Anyway you look at it, all upgrades require admin to 1st read this section, and 2nd actually spend time working on the game, neither seem to have happened in a long time.
