Ascension.. a matter of "you're good" or "you're not".
Only way to "spend $$" on it is if you start buying DMU for $$, effectively delegating that part of playing the Ascended server to others while reaping the benefits for yourself.
You can be quite sure that if you pay others to do your job, you can "get good" compared to the majority of players.
Whether you'll be seen as "good" however, is another thing entirely.
