hmm... having been part of both types here, we agree... empires are boring, boring, boring...

we have once helped found an alliance (and an training alliance...)

the alliance itself is gone now (joined an empire), but the training alliance lives on...

the community and unique personalities that made up that alliance, slowly died when it became part of an empire... that change is part of what made us loose interest in main...

there are few alliances that have made strong impressions of quality and such on us... but all of them are of the kind that started out small and nice... the ones with a unique personality, rather than a borrowed one from some empire...

the best way to speed this game up again, would be to have no great empires...

Just because you're not in alliance/empire, wont prevent you being friends...

i'm sorry, got a lill bit carried away there, jus tdon't like ppl compalining about big empires.

anyways why you wanne be ina big empire:

- we do all the big wars
- there is always someone on the alliance forums
- you meet alot of different ppl
- you can effectivly have alliances with different personalitys, that way friends with different game styles can still be part of the same famely while not in the same alliance
- you can actualy move around in large empires, OE has free player migrations, it's done alot to find new chalanges. even migration from OE to DDE and DDE to OE is possible
- when your in trouble there is always someone to help
- always someone around to hel ascending
- someone always knows whats going on
- everything is done for you so you can just play
- the empire command takes care of your mess
- we actualy have a huge spam section
- trading in empires is very safe, specialy with $ and acounts sinc eyou know you won't be scammed
- loaning becomes easy in an empire
- alliances can loan from other alliances in the empire
- there is always someone around from other alliances to give other vieuwpoints

need i go on what the benefits are ?

well, being part of nemesis makes me part of an empire i suppose. but i wouldn't consider it in the same league as DDE or OE in size and i know most people in nemesis on a personal level. i know we could basically be one large alliance and there would be little difference but its nice watching the players from quarter develop and move into the other two alliances. i'd consider it one big happy family. (don't tell them i said that, they may think i'm soft )

but personally, i find most people like to have their own place in an alliance, wether it be leader or if its someone who just sits back and goes with the flow, theres a place for everyone in the game, lone wolf, empire, alliance or otherwise. i don't think anyone can judge anyone elses position.

for me, i think i would miss the closeness i have in my family, not to say the core of bigger empire are not close, but seem u have more cannon fodder also.

I became a member of an Empire days after starting to play almost 5 years ago. I stayed there 4 years and left to start my own . A huge change for me.
Genesis was certainly not the first alliance I had started ( I started Delta ,and was involved in many other OE start-ups ) however it has been the most challenging.

Having done both the big empire thing and the small alliance thing...I will tell you both can be very satisfying in different ways.
The challenge in leading a big empire is keeping all focused on common goals and dealing with the multitude of personalities and differing opinions within the empire. The fun of a large empire is the many friends you make and work with to achieve things - and to continue the legacy others before you had built.

In a small alliance , the challenge is survival when facing the reality of the odds against an opponent with 5-20 times your numbers. The fun of it is the satisfaction of seeing a small band stand up and not bow down to a superior opponent.

Bottom line, it is a game..there is a place for both and quite frankly people should do what they enjoy...be it the empire path or the small independent alliance path.

Quite frankly, we all have either option...so when you pick yours do not complain about the choices of others. It really is a fools errand.

That was a very nice way of putting it! I feel the same way. I also respect everyone in the alliance and let them fight their fights with honor and fight along side them when necessary! The reason why Nemesis is so unique is because of the players that joined under our flag for one reason or the other...

Nicely written GunZ, I agree that one of the main focuses of newly established or small alliances is the sole survival which can be a very big motive for you to really do the best you can and push everything to the limits to make it work

In the 4 years I was part of OE (and COP / FUALL / etc) we never once did such a thing..frankly it was not necessary.All the alliance were very independent with unique personalities at the helm - and that was reflected in the style of said alliance.All however did adhere to certain ''Empire '' standards and philosophy.

Each alliance within the empire had its own wars and stood on their own .The ONLY time multiple alliances within the Empire attacked an opponent it was against other ''empires''.

Alpha ( pick any alliance name here )for example has wars with other alliances independent of OE or FUALL ...

I honestly can say in all my time in OE what you suggest never happened.

I do agree. Heros and great players are made from individuals, Individuals in the same alliances just tend to blur into one big mess of unique oblivion. I'd love to see if some of the huge players in huge empires would have gotten so cocky or big on there own or in a smaller alliance.

That being said, i bet it feels damn good to know you started and founded an entire empire, No?

I dont agree with them and do think they dont help, but they do make certain aspects more interesting. And its great character building for newer players or smaller alliances, seeing who bottles it, and who stands and fights.

Great players need bad ones to exist, Just like Hero's need villians.

Just like rebels need an empire to fight.
