I like this discussion .

Another point as to why large empires form is simply human nature. By necessity alliances , treaties , pacts etc form when conflict emerges.

In all the course of human history disparate groups , tribes, countries have eventually found like-minded groups to ally with in conflict. I challenge you to name any war in human history where all sides were without allies..As the very purpose of this game is war...it is a natural evolution.

Truth is, it would be odd if it had not happened.

No one's saying you should go away, so please do keep on topic instead of taking things personal? There are other channels to relay comments regarding relevance.


Playing as a gear in the machine that forms an empire is just another way of playing.. some prefer it that way, others prefer another way.

i'm sorry, got a lill bit carried away there, jus tdon't like ppl compalining about big empires.

anyways why you wanne be ina big empire:

- we do all the big wars
- there is always someone on the alliance forums
- you meet alot of different ppl
- you can effectivly have alliances with different personalitys, that way friends with different game styles can still be part of the same famely while not in the same alliance
- you can actualy move around in large empires, OE has free player migrations, it's done alot to find new chalanges. even migration from OE to DDE and DDE to OE is possible
- when your in trouble there is always someone to help
- always someone around to hel ascending
- someone always knows whats going on
- everything is done for you so you can just play
- the empire command takes care of your mess
- we actualy have a huge spam section
- trading in empires is very safe, specialy with $ and acounts sinc eyou know you won't be scammed
- loaning becomes easy in an empire
- alliances can loan from other alliances in the empire
- there is always someone around from other alliances to give other vieuwpoints

need i go on what the benefits are ?

A question for you..can't all these things be done if the alliances involved aren't combined in an empire?

most can be done when they are not combined in an empire that is true but not all.

and it actualy doen't take 5 alliances to take on 1. i think if you'd trace down OE history you would find that only in the server wars you have ever seen all OE alliances in the same war. (not even FUALL Vs TOB had all OE alliances in it since OSL was fighting SU)

OE alliances war alot on individual basis (as does DDE) wich actualy makes the wars more fun. then again, the omegan empire is not the only large empire out there. so i cannot speak.

now alot of ppl will say that your closer in a small alliance and yes that is true however i must say in my time in the OE i have found that you are always very close to a part of your alliance. . but in the mean time i have met and talked to ove rhalf of the OE by now and i know most by name what they do etc etc. it just takes alot more time and a good memory tough.

and empire gives more options and security. a small alliance gives more freedom.

In all seriousness, I really think the problems in the game stem not from empires, they are a natural progression in a social game based on war...the problem is the rule set in the game that prevents clear victory !

In all seriousness, I really think the problems in the game stem not from empires, they are a natural progression in a social game based on war...the problem is the rule set in the game that prevents clear victory !

I think in that case it stems from the transfer of resources. If you could never have done that, the biggest accounts now would probally be half of what they are, AND there would be very little room for mistake in warfare, thus victory would be on the side of the best players, who make the most of there accounts, as apposed to the biggest accounts with the most friends...

I'm sick of large Empires, they offer the most boring way to kill the game.

Since I take a different view, I merely offered a counterpoint I think is valid. That said, I agree the thread should not devolve into a discussion of that issue.

I do agree. Heros and great players are made from individuals, Individuals in the same alliances just tend to blur into one big mess of unique oblivion. I'd love to see if some of the huge players in huge empires would have gotten so cocky or big on there own or in a smaller alliance.

That being said, i bet it feels damn good to know you started and founded an entire empire, No?

I dont agree with them and do think they dont help, but they do make certain aspects more interesting. And its great character building for newer players or smaller alliances, seeing who bottles it, and who stands and fights.

Great players need bad ones to exist, Just like Hero's need villians.

Just like rebels need an empire to fight.

Im not saying we dont need villains, villains are great, I just mean why do so many Villains and Heroes need to bunch together. Let them split off to form more tightly knit sections of Heroes and Villains.

A small alliance built full of Villains is a HELL of a lot more interesting on the forums and to the game than an Empire that is the same as all the others.

I just want individuality to come back to the game.

I mean the Radical Minority would be a good example of individuality, a group of experienced players, old skool some might say, bunched together having a laugh. You were all mates and tightly packed. A good solid alliance.

As I have not been around for a year or two, I can only draw on examples from my time of playing, but I mean FS is another example. Battle Hungry, never back down from anything, and a good bunch of players. Individual.

EPA have always been in Empires, and have always had alliances around them but I mean if you look at them on there own, they are a great individual alliance. Military orientated due to there players input, and a level of role playing from a SGW side too. Another great Individual alliance.

Im sure I could have named many more, but I mean do the Omega System Lords NEED to be Omega's system lords ? Does DDE need THAT many alliances? ( Before I get messages saying im picking on Omega and DDE, i'm just using them as examples from my time of playing, I'm not sure who's affiliated with who etc. )

God this is a great thread. ive been playing for 2 years now and have created 2 alliances that were semi successful but all i got was invintations to join empires. i love small ta medium alliances they add little personalized fun. empires are nice if you like executing orders AHEM!?66.....

excuse me indigestion.

i think the personal alliance needs to make a comeback it would defenitely help this game especially if we could get all the hundreds of inactive ones deleted from the alliance pages.

none of you are persian or roman so why do you need an empire i mean come on....

who is to say an empire can not have a personal feel as well?

I think its clearly harder to achieve if you have many more members, ranging in different alliances to keep the personal level at a high rate.

Its just the maths of it really.
