Surely every alliance should fancy itself to a degree?
Self-loathing in an alliance is neither an attractive nor a productive quality. I think some of the best alliances throughout this game's history have been a bit cocky. In fact, I think a degree of self-confidence and swagger is almost essential in making a name for yourself and establishing your alliance as a force to be reckoned with. Look at the major success stories of this game and tell me that there hasn't been a degree of arrogance and blithe self-assurance in the way in which they've conduced themselves.
Oh, and also some of Ricos are just so damn hot. Didn't you see the thread?!
