i have no plans to carry this on any further

not because i believe that the actions by the mod team was right in reopening the thread, or allowing the mod team to once again rename, but for this reason

It about the rights of the originators of threads to choose when they start, and when they end, and what they want to call them. The mod team and admin, understandably wishes to make there life on these boards as simple and easy as possible. To that end, they have move/amended rules/ made it up rules as they go. i really don't blame them. It is a thankless job, and even when they think.....believe...they are doing right, some one screams basis, and off the forum goes.

An this office, which i brought this complaint to, is left by the very rules, powerless for all intent and purpose to change any thing, even if it wants to.

It seems there are lots of rules on the forum...some plain written, some assumed, and some only sent by admin. what is missing i believe is a very key element in the check and balance that all things need

what u say is true, so conversely, then all the user have no more of a right to a thread then the originator. hence, author ship is the the defining factor in the naming and closing of threads, not who has also posted in it. Finnely, in with no government here to speak of, the admin and mod team become the defacto government, so fallowing this chain of thought, there should be a contract between the users and admin as to our "rights of ownership" of threads.

You gave up any "rights" you may want when you agreed to the terms of these forums at sign-up.

I do not want this to sound mean (so don't take it as mean-spirited): If you do not like the forum rules; you have the "right" to start your own forum. But as long as you post here you have no rights. This is a private business. There is no government involvement.

If there is a thread that the admins / mods do not like it will be deleted.

The way I see it: The admins / mods have (do) bent over backwards so everyone can enjoy these forums. This talk of "free speech" is wrong, there is one person that has the right to post anything he wants (the OWNER of the forums).

forgive me but this stood out after i post
the terms (ea rules) say nothing about that the naming and ability to keep open threads is once originator has chosen. there are rules allowing mods to close threads/suspend posting in threads, to close threads that are named off topic, to move threads to new sections, to keep threads open if they deem content is valid (this is very subjective, and put to logic, subjective always loses.)
no where dose it say they have OWNERSHIP of the thread, in fact, mods, by there nature, are also users, so they would have no more right to owner ship in a name change than the next person.

u miss understand me knight, i fully agree with u that mods and admin have a pact/ duty to police these boards for the owner

they also have the right/duty to shut down threads that are abusive be it in tone or in content

what i am saying here is, how dose that duty transcend into the right/duty to:

1) rename non abusive threads to names of there own choosing

2) stop the closing of threads for valid reasons (ea. in this case, the feeling that it was becoming abusive and argumentative)

now before this goes off topic. let me be clear......i believe mod do what they need to do. i do not, and have not raised bais or any slander against the group, and no one should. Because that's a empty can of nothing....what is need to clear set of rights for posters, so when they feel at some thing is not right, or they feel that they are being wronged, they can point to something.

frankly, if the mods have taken the right to name and close/open any thread they wish.....why should the originator post at all, because his vision of a thread (war. general , spam ) is his own, not a mods. Now if the mod see's the thread as abusive/out side the rules, close it. But the right and ability to tell the originator the name and the end date....i do not think that right, or logical.

but it is the right of the originator to choose the title he feels fits best, clearly the original title (FS vs our dull deary enemies) stood for months, with no complaints, and in fact, mods posting in it (both as mods and as users). Hence, it would be deeded as except able as FS vs DDE (title changed to by author).

It was locked, and then reopened. fine, it has been said that mods now have the right to keep threads open they deem relevant or current. However, the originator saw the thread as mess, detonating and wish to express that. Being lock out of being able to delete it (which i would think should be allowed) he changed the name to what he saw it as. Spam. a mess. It was not insulting, or demeaning to any one. In fact less so than what it started out as. Then the mod team, decided that they felt they should not only keep the thread open, but rename it (DDE vs FS) a name not yet use .

and so it sits now, none of the originators will post in it.[/spoiler]
