Re: My greatest adversary, My greatest regret
Greatest adversary was probably the3rdlibra (aka GhostyGoo, aka Ste) - simply because he was my first big adversary in the game in the old days of OoC v TA/EPA. Some of the battles the guys in those alliances fought were awesome, but it also harks back to a more competitive time of the game. I remember the race to be the first to be able to afford 1 top weapon per day - and then the race to Spy Level 12 (at a time when 20 was thought to be unachievable).
libra was a great player, he played a good game and you always knew that if you hit him you'd have to hit him hard or there'd be swift and unforgiving retribution. Unlike a great number of players who followed him, he never moaned, whined, cried or issued petulant alliance threats about being massed (and we're talking about the days when accounts could almost quite literally be massed down to 0 (ZERO)). He simply rebuilt, organised his allies and eventually you got what you knew was coming to you.
He was also a legend within the forum and was one of the forum mod team that I looked up to when I first entered the fray. His linguistic skill and wit was fantastic and he could tie in-game adversaries or forum trouble makers up in knots with a few choice words, rather than degenerating into a ranting tirade as many forum users (lacking vocabulary and original thought) later did.
Ultimately he turned into a good friend (even while still in-game adversaries) and I regret not trying harder to get him to stay when he eventually decided to leave - along with a number of others - THE SAZ, opticallove, BJammin, JaseB etc - i.e. the people who built the foundations of the game. Perhaps if some/all of these had stayed the game (and the forums) might have been better?

My greatest regret is that I have yet to find a great adversary.

Greatest regret.... mmmm I dont like to regret things as I think I wouldn't be me if the past didn't happen the way it did. Buuuuttt for the sake of this silly forum thread...I'd say my biggest regret would be not giving Daff the chance to explain himself.
Greatest adversary... mmmmm another hard one... Weridfish ? Hammy ? HW in general ? Not sure how to answer this one, as they weren't amazingly hard to deal with, just for share hate from one another, it was pretty brutal. The lengths we would go to just to beat the other in any way shape or form was abit mad lol

Actually, that would be mine as well come to think of it. For all the battles and wars ive yet to royally piss off anyone enough to don spandex & become my arch enemy
Either that or spending 2 years as a perg noob and basically wasting my time on a dying alliance in there. Loyalty holds a fella back sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, its not like I havn't had my fair share of battles. During the server war there were a few people that stood out, Dastupy and Noobert were two of them. Truth is though that most of the hated people around here I got on with. Priller for example, even though he caused problems for a lot of people me and him always avoided confrontation with one another, because we knew if it started it would never end. Blahh I was at peace with. STI/KGC were in Omega so I never really encountered them. Snakekeeper still springs up in my logs as an occasionally annoyance but he is hardly an adversary. Bebita I might not have liked, but even he didn't get my full and undivided attention during the big war. I have yet to find anyone that I want to war with no matter what the cost.
I guess, in a very round about way, Lore is my biggest adversary. He is similar to me in playing style and our accounts match up pretty well. We always liked fighting each other just because we have so much respect for each other. The big difference between us is I am in TÅ and he is in DDE, therefore alliance politics always pitch us against each other in major wars.

Then you wimps arnt trying hard enough
I dont have any regrets
I loved being the little guy picking on Omega, being in the Esker Alliance and being shafted by a coalition of the big alliances, Leading the FRA to war with the UTA. Constant battles with the big alliances, destroying what I could and playing the diplomacy game in between wars. Pretending to be weak when I was strong and about to strike, pretending to be strong when I was hammered and out of resources.
And through it all making heaps of good friends with my enemies and enjoying actually playing the game.
Who was the greatest adversary? Naming 1 would be an insult to the rest there were so many great opponents who enjoyed playing the game, massing and being massed like I did
