possible hack attempt i think

was away from GW for bout day and a half also on ppt when i came back home i had an email with my login details since i wasnt at GW i didnt ask for it so i find it strange and why i think some tried to hack my account

is it possible to do a check into this or has any one else had this done in the last 2days?

ps ingame name is lawless one i.d is 1908448

well, actually the mods can't do anything with this, exactly as its not forum related. so your best bet is to go to an admin meet on irc or e-mail him.

No, there is no attempted hack story here. Someone may have tried to gain your password, but that would not be hacking. Just.. account theft. Something I'll show is your own responsibility to be safe from.
Forgot Password

Enter your e-mail address or username to retrieve your login details.
All I need is either the e-mail address of a certain user, or the username of a certain user, in order for the system to send the login details to the address on file.

For instance, I put in my subject's username "UserName1". The message I see, is "Details sent." I don't see to where, and I don't see what the details are.
Now, if I had had control or access to the inbox of UserName1's registered e-mail address, I would now be in possession of his details.
Since that is a client based responsibility (i.e. it is your own responsibility to keep your e-mail account secure), the game administration will take no responsibility in the matter.

I do agree that specific safety procedure could be .. improved somewhat. We could record the IP of the person making the request for the details. At the time, this is found to be the most customer-friendly solution.
And since no one should give out their e-mail account details to anyone in the first place -three cheers for common sense- this procedure is safe on the part where the game administration is involved.



To summarise: No hack. Potential attempt at stealing your account. Check whether your e-mail address is secure.
For good measure, do go and talk to the boss. He'll say the same. Almost literally, I can assure you. *is source*

There's nothing you can do.
You could set up a spam filter on your inbox to direct the mails to, but that might become a problem if you ever want to change your password yourself. I don't think that's advisable. If it happens more, I'll fetch the boss for you. ;)

Someone tried it at me too.... I've been under fire (completely fails though) from newbie/noobs past week, with 5-6 reported failures of attacks/spying... all the accounts were no older then a week... likely less... In my opinion, someone is looking to steal accounts and trying it out...
Can someone do us all a favour and have Jason look at it? My ingame ID is 1957053 - perhaps it's an idea to compare the IDs the requests came from to each other... wouldn't surprise me if it would be the same person/IP. (At least, I *hope* Jason has got the IPs somewhere in those databases of him...)
