The Ascended Guide

FAQ

1) What is Ascension?
Ascension is an advanced form of game play, played in the main server and in the ascension server.

2) What do I need to Ascend?
Any ascension will require 1001 GnR (Yes, I know most places say 1000, but 1001 is needed, SGW has issues with zeros). For most people this means just under 21 days in range earning one per turn. The other requirements depend on what ascension level you are currently at. Note that the multiplier for untrained/trained/naq requirement is based on your current raw UP, not the minumim requirement or your total UP - again it is based on your current RAW UP. Untrained units may be either actual UU or miners (not lifers). Trained units may be any form of trained unit including miners. Miners do count as *both* a trained and untrained unit, but do not count for gaining APP.

For each ascension there are resource requirements that you must have to be able to ascend. The requirements are the following:

*NOTE: all UP requirements are taken from RAW UP

Apart from just the stat bonus, you get much more powerful weapons and technologies.

What is Ascended Blessing?
Ascended Blessing is the unique tech for ascended beings, its is unavailable to priors. it gives the chance to double your stats when you are being attacked or are attacking.

What Can I Expect After Ascension?
After ascending you are placed back on the mortal realm with nothing but your planets and lifers. NO Covert Levels, NO Unit Production, NO Nothing. You Lose All G&R points that you have accumulated, these along with everything you have in your realm are used up when ascending. You are given access to Ascended Wars, and a chance to prove your worth there.

Ascending More Than Once
Some times called channeling, reascending or just ascending. You can reascend and gain more bonus'

What is Descension?
Descension basically is a result of being attacked directly by the others of the ascension realm. while you are descended you have none of the bonus' you had, you are also locked out of the ascension server for two weeks, when you are allowed back in you are under protection for a short period of time.

The Ascended Paths:
There are four paths in ascended that determine starting enhancement levels. The choice makes little difference as of this writing, mostly ascetic and the names of your different types of planets. Tolah (warrior), Indu (mystics), Anja (power), Ori (evil). The path that is chosen is only taken into account the first time your main account ascends, subsequent ascensions will not change the path you are on and will not add to your enhancement levels. Pick the one that best suits you, remember it can not be changed and will be displayed in both ascended as your path and on main as part of your title.

The Ascended Races:
The base races in main advance to a new type upon ascending.
Asgard -> Ancients
Goa'uld -> System Lords
Replicators -> NanoTiMasters
Tauri -> Tollan
*special* Daimon: Only obtainable if you descend yourself (quit the ascended server). Daimon suffer double losses in battle, do not have a unique tech at the time of this writing (and thus get no ascending blessing unique tech), and may not change to one of the other ascended races. Daimon do not gain GnR and may not ascend. Damion, unlike the other advanced races, may *not* change race except to go back to a base race.

All ascended races have access to ascended weaponry which is more powerful than the weapons used by the base races as well as more expensive (attack, defense, and mothership fleets all three). They do not receive a specialty bonus of 25% in one field, but a general bonus instead that grows as the account goes through more ascensions. Like the Goa'uld, they do not pay a 5% surcharge for depositing naq into their bank.
The ascended races are fairly interchangable. As confirmed by Lord Nerull a use of a race change can allow a player to move between the four advanced races (but not Daimon) without loss to techs, spy levels, ascension progress. Changing to a base race carries all normal penalties of race change and will reset your ascension level.

The Advantages:
- Scary red title.
- General Bonus to all stats instead of a specialty bonus in one field.
- Access to ascended weaponry.
- Ascended Blessing Unique tech (starting at Prophet level), has a 5% chance per level of tech of doubling strike or defense power.
- More mercs (Max of 105% at LG+1).
- Free PPT upon hitting the button.
- A free starter kit of naq, UU, and AT that will in no way equal what you used to ascend. But every bit helps. The amount gets bigger every ascension.

The Drawbacks:
- Loss of base 25% specialty bonus.
- Upon ascending for the first time you lose access to your unique tech. It is gone for good. A new unique tech (Ascended Blessing) will be gained upon your second ascension and

will grow in strength until your 6th.
- Upon ascending, every single time your account in main is virtually reset. You will retain your trades on your broker, your lifers, your planets, your mothership but not your current fleets (this used to get reset as well but has been changed, your fleets count as weapons, your flet slots remain unchanged), and remain in your alliance. Everything else is converted to APP or lost entirely. That means your covert/anti levels and supers will be lost as they are converted to APP and cannot be salvaged. This also means your GnR will be reset to zero (0). You cannot stockpile Glory and ascend repeatedly off one batch!
- Your war and peace settings and your mailbox (in, out, and saved) are reset/deleted upon ascending. The settings of everyone towards you are also reset, both war and peace. You will remain in your alliance at least.

Your Path on the Road To Ascension ...
You must now choose your path on the road to ascension.

There are 4 paths, that lead to 4 ends. Each end is shared by others of like minds....
(And like stats - see the race comparison table below for 'self' energy starting values, and 'physical world' starting bonus levels)

It is also worth noting that despite your current race, and its values and ethics, when you look deep in your self, you find that you are no longer tied by your previous life...From here, your fate is individually yours...

The paths that are available are as follows:

TOLAH
You may aspire to the ranks of what most call the Tolah. One word summary of race: Warrior
The Tolah are still warriors, even in their ascended state. The are a relatively young ascended race, and most have come from the races of the Jaffa, Tauri, Tok'ra, Langarans, Unas and Re'Tu. They have a weaker life force, although are very quick to draw energy from the world around them, allowing for a quicker personal growth. They sit generally on the side of good and peace, although evil and vice still exist within them.

INDU
You may aspire to the ranks of what most call the Indu. One word summary of race: Mystic
The Indu are generally elder spirits, then ascended. Their ranks are mostly from the races of the Tollan, Nox, the Spirits of Salish, and other mystic races. They have a very strong life force, and are also very quick to draw energy from the world around them, being in tune with the cosmos at a spiritual level. They sit firmly on the side of good and peace, and as such are not skilled at attack and force, but can and do defend well if attacked.

AJNA
You may aspire to the ranks of what most call the Ajna. One word summary of race: Power
The Ajna are the oldest ascended race. They value personal growth, and have a strong life force. Their members have come from a diverse past, including the Ancients, Oannes, Reolo, water lifeforms, and many other races (some long extinct on the physical plane) over the millennium. These would be called a balanced ascended race, although their interest and skills in battle are limited since they concentrate more on self improvement through focus and dedication opposed to power through conquest.

ORI
You may aspire to the ranks of what most call the Ori. One word summary of race: Evil
The Ori are also an old race, but it is their unique ideals that really separate them. They value control, view themselves as superior, and have no concept of mercy, patience or tolerance. In short - they are evil dominators, who use whatever methods they see fit to accomplish their goals. And those goals are domination of the known planes of existence.
You will find most of the Ori come from past races such as the Goa'uld, Ashen, Eurondans, the Wraith or even the most advanced of the Replicators' (yes - they overcame the limitations of 'soul energy' through energy manipulation, and a few ascended instead of perished.) These beings are strong, and focused on conquest. They sacrifice energy harmony with the environment around them, and also do not value internal growth. They are therefore slower to grow personally, although most adept at taking what they want.

The Ascened Server

First thing I want to talk about is to establish some similarities between SGW, and SGW:AW.
NAQ is replaced by Dark Matter Units (DMU)
UP is replaced by Planets Production (PP)
MS is replaced by a Command Star (CS)
Tech upgrades are replaced by your abilities (via Power Ups)

Biggest change is that you are given Ascension Life Forces (ALF), there's normal, your reserve and a cache.

The three most important aspects of the game are your DMU, your PP, and ALF.

DMU, affect how much you can spend on making fleets, upgrading your CS, assigning your planets, and weapons.
Planets, are like units they can be assigned to make DMU, or become attackers, defenders, spies, and anti-spies(assassins)
Fleets, which are made with DMU, go out and search for planets (your PP).

ALF, it's your life force, literally, it's like a health bar. When you have enough it also contributes to your ability to upgrade.

I'm not going to mention all the aspects of what you can upgrade, just the major areas to start off with. From there you're on your own.

Maximum Natural Energy Capacity (MNEC)
Basically, this represents your total life force. The more you have the bigger the health you have. Its nice, but the more you have of it, the less ALF you'll have to perform upgrades.
Why? Because you have to fill your Main ALF, and your Reserve ALF, before you're given the rest for upgrades.
Therefore, if you're first starting out DO NOT TOUCH RIGHT AWAY!
e.g.
I set mine to 50 and this is what I got.
Life Force: 0 / 228,000 | Life Force Reserves: 0 / 3,420,000

Energy Flow Ability (EFA)
This determines how fast your Main ALF can recover. This is what goes into the main life force.
e.g.
I set mine to 200, it takes me 8-9 Turns to fill my LF to Max or 4 1/2 hours
Ascended Life Force Recovery Rate Per Turn: 27,550

Energy Channeling Skill (ECS)
This is the most important of the three, because this is what ultimately determines how fast you can upgrade.
The higher the actual number is to your Energy Flow is, not the upgrade, the more you can put into reserves and into cache (for upgrades).
e.g.
I had set mine to 200, It will take me 277 Turns to fill my reserve, or 5 days 18 1/2 hours
Reserve / Cache Rate Per Turn While at Maximum: 12,350 / 6,175
Ideal to keep this HIGHER than your EFA, remember as well Reserves fill up BEFORE Cache

Outward Charisma
Determines how many MORE planets your fleets can bring back.

Production Capacity
Determines how much MORE DMU your planets produce.

If you haven't taken a thorough look through the pages, it'll be a SLOW process to progress. The way I happened upon it was, "hey I just ascended and there were those Ascension Points that were given to me, but where are they?!"
I found them hidden in the Cosmic Trade, you'll want to go there and click the convert AP, it turns them into the ALF you so desperately need.

Ascended Lexicon
- 1v1 (Ascended Attack): A personal assault of one ascended being against another to hurt and ultimately descend (an unwilling vacation) the victim.
- ALF (Ascended Life Force): Your personal life used in battle. No longer used to purchase Enhancements.
- ALR (reserves): What keeps you from being descended if your ALF runs out. Regenerates at a slower rate than ALF.
- APP (Ascended Power Point): Generated by your ascended account as time passes and from your main account when you ascend. May be converted directly to cache if your ALF is at least half full. Unlike converting DMU this does not fill your ALF first.
- cache: The 'bank' of ascended. May be spent on enhacements, converted to ALF/ALR or converted to DMU.
- CER (Cosmic Expansion Rate): Total calculated planet production per day.
- CS (Command star): Ascended version of a mothership. Nowhere near as powerful currently, may get up to a few trillion strike in a game where 10 quad strikes are fairly common.
- DMU (Dark Matter Units): The base form of currecy on Ascended. The equivilant of naq. May be converted to cache at a severe loss.
- Enhancements: Ascended has no race percentages or tech. These take the place of racial percentage boosts.
- Fleets: The base of your ascended unit production. Equivilant of raw UP in main.
- GnR (Glory, Glory and Reputation): Required for ascending, earned by the top 2% of players on main each turn.
- MNEC (Maximum Natrual Energy Capacity): The statistic that governs your base ALF, ALR, core recovery rates, and base personal strike.
- Path: Your 'race' on ascended. Displayed as part of your title in main.

Some difference to note:
- Ascended has no bank. You may convert DMU to cache, but may not store DMU directly. Converting DMU to cache and back is a severe loss. 10,000,000 Dark Matter Units into 1,000 Ascended Life Force while 1,000 Life Force converts to 1,000,000 Dark Matter Units.
- Ascended has no Techs.
- Ascended has no market, no broker, no trading between players, and no formal alliances (only declaired tags). It does have a trade tab that allows you to move energies around.
- Ascended has no way to gain turns other than over time.
- Planets in ascended are units, they are not like planets in main.

Hello mr. Necromancer. :-k Didn't you read the rules?

Anyway, to answer your question.
Chronologically:
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29148
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=80910
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=102667
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=143979
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=155289

And that's just what I saw in one glance. So .. umm .. it's redundant? :? We already have 2 threads stickied, and they're sufficient.
