Warning Points and Bannings

You should most likely have gotten several verbal warnings for spam either directed right at you or in the topic you posted in before you got an official warning. I can't comment concretely as I'm not familiar with the circumstances surrounding any of your warnings. In my opinion the system right now is quite generous with 9 warnings until a permaban (and apparently you can easily overcome that, but for another day..) and 3 warnings for each 2-week ban (the right amount of time). You even get verbal warnings before board warnings unless you outright broke a quite serious rule.

I'm open to being convinced otherwise though.
