Re: new to anime

What sort of stuff do you normally like watching?

I would suggest possibly Soul Eater to start as it has finished so you dont have to bother catching up like you would with bleach, one piece and naruto. also it is very good and has aspects from various types of anime. Not difficult to follow and relates fairly well to western people.

Also, Death Note is a MUST at some point. Its a real break from American TV and is utterly amazing

Re: new to anime

yeh, Ghost in the Shell relates well to Appleseed

also, there is a sequel film to Appleseed, Appleseed Ex Machina, so if you havn't seen that, you would probably like it

as far as good starting anime

Gundam Wing = the reason i got into anime, and have spent upwards of 18hours a day doing nothing else

Re: new to anime

ok for starting out on anime deathnote is a NO.

reasons why: there's SO much hype about it, if you watch it and are disappointed, it may dissuade you from watching other anime's if it's all you know from anime. I'd say it's worth seeing later on though...... but you say you've already seen it.....

Ghost in the Shell is what originally got me into anime, good storyline, not too confusing etc, interesting characters, all round goodness. and I find its genuinely good, without masses of 15 year old emo scene kid fanboys ranting about it at any given moment. I'd say to leave Soul Eater untill a little later on, it is good, but maybe watch it after you've seen 2 or 3 other series'.

I highly reccommend you also see Xam'd: Lost Memory, its an interesting plot, sci-fi with a good helping of Steampunk too.
