Far too many people are beignning to blame jason for the games turmoil. It may be said that he neglected the game for a while, but this game isnt the only thing in his life.
This game is breaking because of the style of game that it is. Resources will always increase as their is no way to get rid of miners. This means people will keep growing and growing. This result will end up with the same thing happening to prices.
Yes the market change didnt help. but i think with a bit more talking to jason he may fix that.
So in short, while incomes, UPs and armies keep growing, the game is gonna keep getting worse, the gap between rich and poor wil get bigger and activity will become lower untill gatewars is just another server of origins
No more blaming Jason.

Re: No more blaming Jason.
this is also his flagship game, which he built, made a LOT of $$ from then effectively just left.
Yes numbers keep growing, some of which are from updates like adding UP planets....I mean if you don't want vast amounts of growth you need to code something that counteracts it.
the game went downhill when people wanted to sell their "extra" resources, admin then made it easy to gather such resources, and we are where we are.
Sure it's not all his fault, and he does undoubtedly have other projects to work on. However why not go out and find another programmer that could take over the day to day running of the game?

But surely, even without these updates, it would have happened eventually, everything would have been a lot slower(especially to those just starting) and therefore more boring. You cannot say that despite it going downhill, you dont enjoy the game- otherwise you wouldnt be here. But i seem to have a lot more interest in this game than i did 3-4 years ago when things were slower.

Re: No more blaming Jason.
Well said AoH.
Admin is trying to make his game interesting with updates (not all are popular, but it's not humanly possible to always have popular updates), people shouldn't blame him for whatever he does or doesn't do. And he also tries to fix issues leading to non stop growth and lowering of value of naq & uu due to inflating amount of both. It's not that easy to find out the best thing to do, when you are ALONE infront of thousands of customers.

what bothers me is how people complain about the game becomming boring and when jason tries to make it a bit more interesting all u see are comlaints only way to really test it is implement it on a server(main) for a week and then take feedback.beta only has 18 odd people of the 50 that went their to play for a few days
just my 2 cents

It's more "interesting" now because you can mass, and effecitvely lose nothing, meaning you can mass more people, it use to be it actually took a lot of tactical ability to mass, and often involved numerous people.

Re: No more blaming Jason.
someone will probably blame me for it but I said it in the days when it was formed with many others and I will say it now
PLANETS WERE A TERRIBLE IDEA!!!
they only speeded up the game which was totally unnecessary because if you have something, you want it runing as long as it can and not ridiculously speed it up...there is no finish line in this case...
planets only increased the growth of big players, gave admin extra work to put in extra caps and restrictions for unlimited growth and so on and that had lead us to the point where we are now...
AT prices wouldn`t be nowhere near where they are, there would be a bigger supply to meet everyone`s needs and perhaps so many people wouldn`t leave either...
I wonder who`s stupid idea was to put planets in place, I hope the original idea didn`t come from Jason`s head...
planets only gave more resources to the "1 hit policy alliances" which were taing the best of the best planets without the fear of losing them....we all know what would happen to those who would dare to take them and so noone bothered and let the big guys grow even more stronger leaving their other competitors far behind...
noone is blaming Jason why the game is where it is, he always discussed the upcoming updates with the players to find any bugs or exploits or to improve them....
If I was admin, I would remove planets from the game right away, all they enable is statbuilding and this game is about wars, not about statbuilding...
I don`t see the difference if someone would have a raw up of 2 mill in these days and the disese would kill like 500k- 1 mill a day....there would still be a benefit
with planets it`s almost the same, you loose half of your production or how much it is....still the same with the only difference that it goes faster

and that`s what certain updates took out of the game.....in these days you don`t even HAVE TO TRY
people always complain why they can`t have this or that "just like that"....
answer:
people don`t apreciate things they get without any work because they don`t apreciate them...they have no value because it didn`t require anything to acquire them
who would want a girl that would jump into your arms as soon as you walk through the door??? it would be cool at the beginning
but eventually you would get fed up with it...laws of nature people...
massing people doesn`t even bring any fun, it`s like snapping your fingers....*SNAP* you have been massed...
I remember those days where we would discuss several hours on msn our strategies and along that chat and have fun...really do miss those times
Now you don`t even have to go on msn, you can do everything on your own

Re: No more blaming Jason.
Planets along with boosting too much UP & income, partly replaced supers which used to be counted as losses which brought strategy of team massing in the game.
Now UPs are bigger due to UP planets and bigger naq amount around, but less troops are needed in attack and defense for those using planets. Which makes people growing faster and faster. Planet fix might make the use of supers slighty higher than currently, hopefully.
We can be glad admin put trade, raid and plague limits, otherwise, we would see people at 800mil army size with only 5% of those killable.
Having known both, and playing sgaw which is more strategy-based game, I can't agree more with the above!

I agree with with Nitro S regarding that planets were a bad idea, well maybe looked great on paper but didn't work so well in the long run for the game. I liked it better when the game was slower... but I still enjoy playing.
And I applaude Jason for the work he has put into the game. Great job that he has done for us.
Best regards,
KJ

Re: No more blaming Jason.
bro with regards to the planets update its basically twisting whats happend in main the attackers have the upper hand in the massings as the defenders are not so lucky.
now the defenders has a safer ablility with his planets.
also u might argue that the fleets cost a *Filtered*m ore than planets do but when u have ur fleets it add to ur MS strike planets just do 1 thing not the 2 things that fleets do.
anyways if i see soemhthing that effects my daily reoutine in sgw and makes me unhappy ile report it but we should let this all play out and then find a solution as this game need a new revamp.

Re: No more blaming Jason.
my apologies Juliette
....I sometimes forget...to be even more honest, am to lazy
@InR
what do you want to do??? I mean you have to work with what you have in hands...
If you need a digging machine and I give you a shovel instead, what do you want to do except than dig 100x times longer than with a digging machine???
I know it`s not really a best exam but that`s how it is, we also have to play with admin gives us...
on topic
I would suggest a complete removal of planets for a period of 3 months, if things and market along would shape up, would leave the game without the planets
I mean how do you expect people to PLAY and actually work for resources if you each morning find 2 mill + units on your acount without even breaking a sweat????
sure, it cost some time and resources to get them that high but in the end it was for your gain...
the naq could easily go somewhere else like MS improvement or mercenaries, let`s say admin would make an update where you wouldn`t improve mercenaries loyalty and hire count but their fighting skills and resistances...hmmm???
there are so many ways to make new techs where the naq would be effeciently spent
I`m sure that if we would put our heads together we would come up with something
nevertheless, it`s Jason decision if he would be willing to remove the planets to see if it would help or not

Re: No more blaming Jason.
Again, good suggestion Nitro S, remove planets from the game for a short period, see what happens. Then one's planets would be returned to owners if decided to keep them in the game.
