How much should your fleet power be in comparison to a platform defense in order to not get completely decimated?

I have heard 10% before, but recently the following scenario occured:

Player attacks 500 bil platform defense with 50k fleets. Fleets get nearly destroyed, but not completely.
Player builds total 250k fleets but forgets to repair, and so does 12 bil damage on 500 bil platform defense. The fleets however are not completely decimated.

Not sure what you're asking...but 250k fleet should be doing a lot more then 12bil damage, unless you mean it drops the platform by 12bil every hit?

I believe 50k fleet gives 55-60bil fleet power? which would possibly give you enough to start massing the planet...but I would say you're on the very low end of "allowed" there

What I mean is that after the hit with the 50k fleets, the player forgets to repair them, but trains up a total of 250k fleets. That's how you get the 12 bil power on the following hit - yet the fleets are not completely destroyed.

logic woul prevail here and you would not do that.

if you have 250k fleets then train them all in the beginingg if you dotn know the planet defence. if you do and can get it with 50k then just repair them

i kinda get what your asking, i dont know the forumla because you dont really need to do it this way.

I know it's not logical, but it was done against me and yet the person did not loose the fleets. I just wish I could know why.
