i'm also reading allot of articles and watching interviews by well respected top economists, they differ in opinion about certain details and dont necessarily support each others predictions, but 1 thing they all seem agreed on is that global economic collapse is not as far away as it seems.

with the exception of the above Reuters link i wont be posting any other links, but the info is all over the web.

i've got a very sneaky feeling the US (along with Israel) will launch an attack on Iran if for no other reason than to divert our attention while the whole rotten structure collapses around us.

will the global economy collapse?! i have no doubt, the price of gold tells us it will collapse. about a year and half ago (i think) i told you lot in this very forum to watch the price of gold when it was just under $800 an ounce...i've given up keeping tabs on how much its gone up in the past year.

Greece is being forced to sell of her assets, islands and utilities for next to nothing to the very bankers who bankrupted her. they also tried the same crap in Iceland but they were smarter than the Greeks and told the bankers to **Filtered** off!

they are also printing money to prop-up our failing debt based worthless cash and that alone is a recipe for disaster, those of you who are economically more savy than me about such matters wont need me to tell you what happens to a nation and the value of its money when the money-presses are pumping out cash like it was going out of fashion....

anyways, discuss/debate the worlds economy and what you think about whats happening in Greece and the rest of the financial world.


PS, my personal opinion about the Greek situation is that they should default on their debts, go back to the Drachma and bring charges against certain banks and individuals.

PSS. Spain and Portugal better wake up others wise they are going suffer the same fate as Greece.

PSS. i dont know about you guys but i'm stocking up on heirloom (non-GMO) seed. seed in the past has out performed gold and its going to happen again!


PSSS. can someone please explain to me how we expect to haul ourselves out of such a mess like we have done during passed recessions when we have switched from industrial based economies to service economies ?
i mean, who the hell is going to buy insurance, open a bank account, want their carpets cleaned or take out an over 50 plan when our money becomes worth less than the paper its printed on?

Greece bankrupt, send in the bailiffs, sure they could get a good price for the Parthenon, and land it sits on would be worth a mint

As for Spain, 'Land Grab' in reverse, take back the land they stole off foreign owners, not sure about Portugal, do they have any assets ? Any bank dumb enough to lend to someone without security deserves not to be paid back

The world bank always confused me, they are totally imaginary, they have no real money just virtual stuff like a computer game, Id say crash their servers with a nice virus and the whole problem goes away

lol I work as a treasury officer for a Housing Association with £150 Mill + of housing stock, £80 Mill + of Mortgages and £15 Mill + of investments, and my work this year has included borrowing £10 Mill from Barclays Singapore at 2 points above Libor ( 0.87% ) then re-investing it at 2.03% in Barclays UK fixed term investments, same bank, free money. I do have some idea of how international finance works, I just like taking the Mickey Bliss

Thats a BIG subject with many facets that is not in my line of work and I am no expert on, but the basic principal of Derivatives is gambling and hedging your bets, it's a fundamentally flawed system which encourages speculation, and fools people into thinking you can have your cake and eat it. Hedge funds and banks have made a mint using this and they think they are making money from thin air in a virtual world but there is no such thing, there is only finite money and playing this game removes money from real tangible production, manufacturing and service providers, and further down the chain the customers, the public. Real businesses and real people get further and further into unsustainable debt to feed the vultures who play the market until those real people and real businesses default. I would NOT say that the Derivative market has or will collapse, but it does massive damage to the real businesses and people who do real jobs and contributes to economy collapse

It's out of control because there are no controls, those who do it make quick and big short term gains, governments get easy tax incomes from this, again very short sighted, and YES regulation is need but it is impossible as any regulation would have to be worldwide and there will always be some countries willing to go for the short term gains over long term stable prosperity which requires hard work.
