that is quite correct... it was not a single insult, but rather a series of them...

Still, a warning was given supposedly for implying somebody was an idiot. In my book thats just not warnable. And when the insult was on an admin it looks rather bias.

actually, it was specified at the time that that was only the triggering drop, and that it was for a general behavior over the last time period (we're unsure about length of that time period)

BULL its in a war thread, thats why there is a separate set of rules there it is ment to make enemy mad so he will mess up( of course clarkey i dont think you have any lack of smarts, rather the other way around,)

No, did you really just say that? Most people wouldn't waste their time responding to this but I will. To think Earendil has us all at his whim and everything we do is his command is pure insanity. Earendil had no part in the warning given. You only bring him up because of a vendetta you have against you breaking the rules previously and him punishing you for it.

To my understanding, and I am not the Global Mod of General so if you want the true answer seek out Juliette, there are no different rules in the GC. Rules are enforced the same, it used to be lax but I think that changed... Either way there should no room for any insults (in my opinion) on these forums. They are pointless and simply have no place.

However, if im not mistaken the majority of his posts were made in the GC, along with using roleplay. Arn't insults and the like less strict just for the fact that it is the GC?

Not to my knowledge, as I said. He should not get any reduced punishment for breaking the rules just because it was in the GC and ESPECIALLY because it was roleplay.

Sorry Empy But I do Disagree with you, if the rules are not more Lax then it should be changed where it says they are... If they are more Lax then I do think if he was roleplaying it should be allowed, but again I also stand by what I said in a previous point, if he did it to much and actually harrassed someone then yes I suppose he deserves his warning!

He wasn't asking for it... it was 100% the decision of Sokar to make that reply, it was entirely in his power and he chose to do it. There was NOOOOO reason to do it besides to directly insults Earendil for no reason. It wasn't roleplay, AT ALL.

He doesn't really ever give warnings, his job to administrate the staff (Global Mods and Section Mods) and they're the ones who give warnings (with exceptions). Isn't much space for his bias when Global Mods are the ones giving warnings.

BUT this topic is not about Earendil it's about a warning given to Sokar and I am out of bounds. He was not roleplaying, so don't use that excuse.

insults of that type do indeed have nothing at all to do with roleplay...

a roleplay insult of the kind that is often accepted, is a goa'uld calling a tok'ra scum and vermin. or calling a goa'uld a snake/worm... or a tok'ra/tau'ri calling the goa'uld false gods...
a general behavior of insults against other persons is not acceptable behavior.

My personal opinion here.... the warning in itself, is discussable...
However, considering the fact that Sokar goes often too far in his posts (whether roleplaying or not) by constantly insulting people, no matter what they said and what their stance with him/her is, makes it more understandable (as an mod) that the warning has been issued.

Also, IMHO, some of the posts in this thread should be looked at.... but I'll leave that to the Ombudsmen themselves to have a look at or not.

Two of the warnings were bad IMO. Admin Jason told him to post about the ingame message on the forum.

Warning him on the grounds of insulting another user when all he did was quote said user and agree with him, is rather quite silly. It borders 'power abuse' when the supposed "insult" was "calling Ear an idiot" right after we got done stating that it's ok to call someone an idiot.

Did you even read the warning? Did you notice that it's not the word he's warned for, but the attitude prevalent in his posts? Could have picked any of 100 posts to warn him with.

The only possible issue you could reasonably have with this warning is that it is tied to a post, giving the impression of being a warning for that post. Which it wasn't, as you can clearly see in the text of the warning itself.


Power abuse? Puh-leeze, don't bring that cheap nonsense up.. even if you've got nothing better. It's not that difficult.

There are no rules regulating attitude. Your continued insistence on warning the guy on whatever technicality you can drum up only further solidifies the belief that you are not interested in enforcing the rules as they stand, but merely cracking down on those you don't like.
