Seeing my signature was changed without prior warning, due to its exceeding the forum set rules.
Would it not be possible to set forum so it is not possible for anyone to exceed the limit. I have been on other forums in the past where such limits are in place.
This would ensure fair treatment for all forum users.
tnx

As far as im aware, a chracter limit can be imposed easily. But not a size limit(450px). At least without jason playing with the coding.
May be wrong.

Re: Signatures - Set Forum Limit- A Question for Bazsy.
That's why I'm asking Bazsy he's the tech expert:)
There is already a character limitation on here, but I'm pretty sure a size limitation is possible, based on experiences on other SGW forums. (just like the limitation on avies)

There is not a way, I'm not Bazsy but he would have done it before if he could have and cannot. It probably requires something no one wants to do ... you can still wait for him to answer though .

There are Mods that can do this if Jason is willing to allow it. This sort of Mod does not require template edits. However, don't expect the Admins to make life easier on here. They'll just expect you to know the height of your sig when you make it.

You want to know if it is allowed or not? Easy. Set your forum template on the default template - if the page gets widther in that template, your sig is too big. In all other cases, you're likely fine (unless you have got an incredible tall sig).
As for setting an max width... that *may* be possible, but then you'd need an addition which checks the sig automatically somehow for their width - which gets difficult, since they're in general deeplinked

Actually there is a width limit in sigs..... you can't add an image wider than 500px.BenjaminMS wrote:You want to know if it is allowed or not? Easy. Haha, it's Jason who won't get off his backside and make life easier on here. You were an admin yourself, Clarkey, so you know full well that he's been petitioned at various points to make alterations to the forum code and never done so; by us, by the admins long before us, and no doubt by the admins now.

Re: Signatures - Set Forum Limit- A Question for Bazsy.
We'd have loved having such a height limit... unfortunately the way this forum is set up, it is impossible... In fact, we looked for such a setting weeks before the signature rule was brought in...
The only possible way to get such feature, would be for Jason to install a mod, and we cant even recall the last time he did that... (despite the numerous requests for it...)

In the name of the gods, Browsers shall be changed to carry the internet out amongst the peoples and we will spread Firefox to all the unbelievers. The power of the Firefox will be felt far and wide and the wicked users of IE shall be converted to use the true browsers."

Re: Signatures - Set Forum Limit- A Question for Bazsy.
Currently we can limit the image height and width in a signature and the number of images, but not the height of the whole signature.
If I could get Jason to do one thing, that would be the update of the forums, as its more important...

There's also an awesome feature somewhere that checks for duplicate threads before the thread gets posted, which could be helpful for the FAQ section. I know it's possible on vB, not sure if phpBB though.
