wasn't looking to place blame....

talking hypothetically, Israel could take a less aggressive stance, and fess up to what they've done.

2 key points mate. 1st is, Israel is an aggressive Regime, peace is not in an aggressive regimes vocabulary. 2, if Israel truly wants peace, then because they are so aggressive makes them the architects of their own problems in finding a peaceful solution.

i see the situation like this, Israel is smashing itself in the head with a hammer and complaining of a headache, all the while ignoring what its hands are doing....if that makes any sense?!

anyways, in short, they are their own worst enemy and nothing short of total honesty on Israels part will make the situation better...how likely is that to happen?

Looks like Pol Pot Avenger is at it again

Don't play the blame game avenger, i want this thread to be in the spirit on moving on from who is responsible for what kind of discussion.

Here are some questions for those interested.

What would be a fair comprise for lifting the embargo?
What kind of government should palestine adopt to satify both sides?
How could a joint enforcement body be established to elliminate terrosim in the region?
How can arbitrary checkpoints be illimated?

There are more areas here in the conflict that need agreement (these are off teh top of my head.)

There needs to be a trust established, guilt triping is counter productive to that goal

i'm NOT playing anything, but how can you SERIOUSLY discuss solutions without first acknowledging the fact Israel is obviously not interested in solutions...maybe i'm dumb but how can you do that? maybe you can explain it to me?!

there's an old saying, once bitten twice shy, you'd think that bombing people with the result it creates hatred and new terrorists organisations, you would think twice before doing it again, let alone for the umpteenth time.

BUT, if you want another hypothetical solution to this problem, how quickly would Israel run to the negotiation table and do their best to hammer out an agreement if all foreign financial and military aid going to Israel was cut as well as UN and international sanctions on Israel?

i don't solely blame Israel, the problem i have with Israel is that the nation and its leadership are incapable of admitting when they are wrong. but i also blame the west for backing them when they are wrong.

The only solution is for America to offer full citizenship to all the Palestinians and ship them to the Nevada desert and have them occupy a new city built for the Palestinians.

Both sides have bad fanatics so apart from the above there is no solution... Israel and the Palestinians will never see eye to eye and history has proven that time and time again.

to the normal person on the street, peace would be FAAR more preferable (well, maybe not to people like Hitchkok) considering violence hasn't worked thus far, maybe after both sides have wiped each other out its leadership (on both sides) will consider something as radical as peace talks.

I know you have different ideas about how government works. But they are under alot of international pressure to Reolve the issue. This is compounded by pressure inside the region from groups like Courage to Refuse and Peace Now.

As for aid.. I think they are paying their own bills now. But you'd have to ask hitch what there economy is like. I would imagin they probably have a considerable dept from keeping up their military and the droughts they have suffered.
