Consider
However, what if we do not make use of these services.

I pay my bills(wather electricty ect..)

I pay for private hospitable cover,

I have my own private security.

Ive got procedures in place just in case the house catches on fire.

so why tax me?

Paying for services I dont use..

Re: inheritance tax.

To help your fellow man.

Taxations 4 R's

Raise Funds - Pay for services
Redistribution - Tax from rich and pay poor or provide services of benefit to all
Reprice - Make certain goods expenses thereby limiting their negative impact on society e.g. alcohol, tobacco, etc
Represenation - Paying tax increases involvement in political process.

So if you can provide for yourself you are still gonna get hit to help provide for others.

Re: inheritance tax.

i do agree with taxing because it is necesarry , but the inheritance tax is not needed , because it has already been taxed the money you get , and when you spend it it will be taxed further

Oh that is where you are wrong. There is a loop hole, where in australia, you can claim your legal land to be its own nation, and thus, dont get taxed a penny.

and from there its a conscious choice in knowing that the poorer of your nation will suffer for your unwillingness to help your fellow man

Re: inheritance tax.

Tax is tax.

Inheritance tax is no different in taxing well anything else really.

Yes it is a money grab, so what?

So is raising tax on alcohol and tobacco. Reprice as if!

Not going to stop people from smoking or drinking. Actually it can make the negative impact worse.

I.E A drinker uses all his money on alcohol instead of providing for his family, where if prices were cheaper he could still do both.

With supply and demand you can understand why they tax it so heavily.

Re: inheritance tax.

We are taxed when we earn, we are taxed when we spend, we are taxed when we give, then we're taxed when we die

Inheritance tax is a double edged sword with points to consider for and against,

1) We say we want equality, yet the wealth of a persons family background is still the major factor in odds of their success, quality of life, opportunities open to them, the quality of their education and even their life expectancy. Inheritance perpetuated the class system and in a truly equal society everyone would start off with the same, No inherited wealth.

2) Without inheritance there would be no point in saving, buying property or accumilating wealth, which we all do as a natural instinct to improve the lives of our progeny and secure the future of our bloodlines.

A balance has to made made between the two, the inheritance tax threshold in the UK when my grandparents died several years ago was £225K, I think it's risen significantly since then, so beneficiaries already receive substantial amounts of inheritance without tax and I see no problem with the wealthiest in society being taxed on vast amounts so the state 'theoretically' can redistribute some of that wealth to the poorest.

personally and putting aside ALL prejudice i have of Govt...they have no right to tax any inheritance i may receive as a result of someone leaving me cash or property due to their deaths....

what do you lot think?

The Australian Greens are pushing for this in Aus as well as 50% income tax.

Re: inheritance tax.

the so called "Green" parties (regardless of nation) are nothing more than eugenics fronts and destroyers of industry, as well as being anything but green...how about we ask Al Gore and George Soros how big their houses, cars and family's are, how about we ask Spain how the switch to a "green" economy is going for them!

the "green" issue with regards to man made climate change is dead, it died when Climate-gate broke all over the web, it was then buried when the Copenhagen climate summit collapsed when the 3rd world nations attending Copenhagen found out they wouldn't get 1 penny from western carbon taxes and would be forced into taking out HUGE "green" loans instead, further destroying the 3rd world, as if the IMF's destruction of the 3rd world wasn't bad enough.
