why would someone waste the turns so early? or was it a fed player who didnt need to worry so much about the turns.

I have not started massing yet as at this point it is utterly pointless...

Though anyone that attacks me while I have a top 10 defense at any point this wave will not finish in the top 100 this wave. ;)
