So basically this is a question to all the PC gamers out there,
What monitor do you use and how does it perform, i play all games from FPS, RPG, MMO (guild wars) etc etc etc,
The one im currently looking at is
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... 20&subcat=
I went with 26" because of the native res being 1920x1200
where the 27" is 1920x1080 ( HD ) and it looks strange in some games because of the pixel mapping etc.
Cheers

Which monitor do you use
Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"

Re: Which monitor do you use
I use a monitor exactly like that one, and I've used it for over 6 years. It's still in excellent condition except some bleeding from over use.
I'd definitely go for that one, if you don't get a bigger one.

I use a 21" ViewSonic
one of the most robust monitor manufactures IMO.
Couple of tips I can give you is Dot Pitch is important SPECIALLY if its for gaming. the lower the number the better quality of image. Also Response Time is important anything 4ms or under is what I would recommend.

Re: Which monitor do you use
look at things like response time (never >5ms) and native res (at least full HD)
26" for gaming is huge though, id like a monitor like that
you might even consider an LED monitor
cheaper to run, faster, cooler and better
just gotta pay a little more to start with

IE beats Chrome. Hell, EVERYTHING beats Chrome. ICQ **Filtered** beats Chrome. A telex beats Chrome. And even.. BP beats Chrome.

The LED monitors are just backlit LED, not the actual screen the OLED monitors just arent there at the moment,
I didnt order this yet, as im now looking at

Which is 1 of the best 27" gaming monitors you can get, although i wouldnt get it from the above site as you can get it much cheaper else where, but gives you an idea.

actually I have seen that monitor being used before and I must say it is a great monitor, my mother loves it, but the response time is a little above what I would buy and one thing I noticed about that site is it doesn't show dot pitch at max resolution, which is the MOST important feature of a monitor you want (lower numbers have higher quality of image), specially if your buying it with the intention of gaming.

21 or 23 inch viewsonic lcd,
has speakers + 3 usb ports + a microphone + an Ipod dock (all at the base).
its pretty good and not only got for gaming.. i think this is a perfect size cause it can do everything
you dont want a huge monitor, cause if ur siting close then its hard observe the whole screen

Re: Which monitor do you use
well I don't know where to get them nowadays, but I just use a Chimei 19 inch LCD.
yes, no name brand, yes only 19 inch, but for the amount I payed I'm very happy with it. keeping in mind I got it when I was still in high school (probably my 2nd to last year), so the monitor is AT LEAST 5 years old. build quality is great, response rate is still up at 5ms, but really anything good nowadays is going to be better and have a tighter response time.... the ONLY issues I have with it, are a little bit of light bleeding along the top edge, which has only just started within the past few weeks. (5+ years remember....)
all wastes of money. well maybe not the USB ports, but the rest still is VERY unneeded, and even then, USB hubs are really easy to find and really cheap. if we're talking gaming, a mic isnt necessary unless you're going online and even then its optional. better option is a seperate headset. the iPod dock is equally unnecessary, and the speakers embedded into monitors have never been terribly good, so I don't know why you draw attention to them.
TLDR: look for NECESSARY features, not just items to bump up the RRP.

Re: Which monitor do you use
well it was worth it at the time, cause they had a 21 inch lcd with no features and it was like slightly cheaper.. + i got this at future shop so they let me bargain with them lol
speakers are good cause u dont need to buy them seperately, mic is good for certain things.. usb ports were obviously very handy. and the ipod dock, i dont even use it any more.

well like I said, we were talking about gaming. I can understand the ability to bargain, but I still am not convinced - at all - about built in speakers. if gaming, I want a decent set of speakers to use. when just browsing the web I want a decent set of speakers (music). to me the only situation where a set of speakers in a screen would be beneficial would be in a corporate office situation, and even then I wouldnt use them. I already mentioned my opinion on mics and I stand by it. the USB plugs I can understand, but still, a cheaper version without these add ons and a seperate USB hub would do me nicely. and you pretty much summed up the iPod deal. lol.
just saying that when looking for something like a monitor, I look at features from the perspective of cost reduction. if I can get the same screen but without iPod/speakers/mic for a cheaper price, that's what I'm talking about.
