Re: mods sticking to one name

I tried to explain to you, we have colors, I cannot see a better way to show a clear chain of command as you put it.
A bad mod is bad even if he keeps his name, same goes with good mods. A good mod will be good even if he changes his name 100 times a day, same with bad mods.

Re: mods sticking to one name

could all mods please stick to one chosen name do what you'd like in game with your name but constantly changing your names on the forum just causes confusion

should'nt have to ask you should know

there should be a clear chain of command

and sticking to the same name would be nice your in a postion of power act like it. if you police cheif went from john smith to dave jones then liam right nodoby in your town/city would be happy

save the name changing for the game here people need to know who you are

colour yes maybe a sign of power but its not a sign of id.
sig/avatar, some including me have the option to turn those off i use to because it speeds up the loadin time of the forum.

if you DR(doctor) went from
DR.chung to
DR.ross
DR.smith
DR.ward
DR.johnston

or whatever, people in a position of power should for the communities sake stick to one name.

thats all my points who ever asked. i challenge you to prove me wrong.

There is absolutely no case where you would need to know a mods specific name. quote]
yes there is andi have tried to point it out. thankfully ifrit has come along to back me up

I have yet to see a post giving a real reason why it's bad. None of your posts show an actual reason. I do not care what the name of my police officer is, or the police chief, or the governor. It is the position title which is what matters to me. This is shown by the color of our name. If you want to find a police officer or a police chief you look it up in the directory (same as at the bottom of the index page). If you want to talk to the police officers boss, you would use their name on the ticket to know which chief to talk to. In the same way you can use their name as a link to find out who the section head is. Except the forum is digital, so even if they change the name, you still have the correct one as it automatically updates the name in every post or pm.

Chain of command is not affected by Names of Mods. I don't see how the chain of command changes when a user changes their name. As many have said, it's based on color.
Admins -> Global Mods -> Section Mods + Race Mods

As I have said, every post or pm you can click on the mod's name, so no, you have not made a single reason and there is no case I can think of, where having the same name would help communication any differently.

Why so serious?

I still, honestly, fail to see people constantly changing their names.

I have seen many mods who have continually changed their names. As I am sure others have as well.

And?...

your arguement fails so you resort to and?

why so defensive?

Re: mods sticking to one name

I have countered every argument you made. I will not do your work for you, so figure out a reasoning that is not discredited already.

Re: mods sticking to one name

why not accommodate all users with clear communication? If you are indeed out to help users then what is the problem with helping maintain clear communication, rather then assume because you perceive something one way everyone else should? Clearly some see the flaw in constant changing of names, and some do not. Is it really something that is that hard to compromise? Rather then be stubborn to what you are use to?

Re: mods sticking to one name

Your Argument: Chain of Command isn't clear enough.
Counter: It's quite clear. Based on color, which is described at the bottom of the index page and has a link to each group.

Your Argument: It's confusing and you can't find a specific mod.
Counter: If you need to talk to a specific mod, there is a post/pm/warning that shows you who to talk to. The name acts as a link that updates whenever the name is changed, allowing you to talk to whoever you wanted to no matter what.

Your Argument: It's confusing and I can't find any admins/global mods/section mods.
Counter: If you need to talk to a specific mod position, you can use the links at the bottom of the index page to find one to pm.

Your Argument: Someone in a position of power shouldn't change their name because it can confuse people.
Counter: The position of power is implied by the color of their name and their group memberships. The name does nothing to imply that someone is a mod, nor does changing a name do anything.

And with feedback, you are going to get replies from those you are providing feedback to.

but if it was'nt for the intimidation you mght get alot more feed back but all i have seen so far is mods ganging up wanting they'reown way when infact its the players/ forum users that should decide th rules of this forum.

when its about mods/admins i think the professional point of view shoul be let it take its course and see what the users think. but no you all came in guns blazing, which shows to me i'm on the right track.

This thread has been here for over three years and is updated when need be.

And what a helpful thread it is :) I want to note thought that it has a low amount of views :-k
personally It doesn't effect me, but does effect others. I personally don't see anything wrong with either perspective, I just like to point out perspectives, a devil's advocate if you will. I'm just here to help :-D even though I'm probably being a pain in you're ass :P

@Jix - at the current set up admins/mods are users, they are bound by the same rules as we are, but have a additional "guidelines", while you have a point of some kind it is irrational. I would also say as it effects them directly, they should have a right to present their perspectives, otherwise it wouldn't be fair and balanced.
