Well I just started playing and i have seen people mention a war.

okay, we will go actually on topic.... -.-
There are always a few wars going on in the galactic colloseum(sp) though not so much ingame...
Best way to keep yourself out of them for now is to not post anything too far against the powers of the game (TL, DDE, OE, and TAF) , and to spend time in a peaceful alliance for now.

new players tend to struggle in war. im not saying avoid them for good, just while they find their feet, learn how to build and expand, then do it through fighting

actually there is no "The War" atm, there are many small skirmishes going on, but its been almost a year (shock) since the last major war ended..
