Game is on the decline. The 'lets jump ship and get some money before I can't get any' attitude has long since sunk in, fortunately some of us were clever enough to stall/jump ship when it was still viable.
Gatewars is dead. Those left behind are one of 5 people I would think.
1. Those who can't let go.
They had a lot of fun here, a lot of positive feedback and in some cases put a lot of money and/or time into their accounts. When you work or invest in something that much I can say from experience it's very hard to walk away. These people are aware of the sinking ship but they're in that limbo between not wanting to/being unable to walk away.
2. Those who are still blind.
The people who cling to the edifices of a past that isn't there any more. With (for once) all due respect the leaders of the bigger ingame alliances or those who are desperately running to them for some semblance of the glory days of the server wars are the best examples of this. I'd say this was the most tragic case (i'd also say it's not 100% tuthful as not all leaders/examples above are such). These people believe the game is going to be saved or turned around.. and I wish for their naivety but I am blessed to be without it.
3. Those who don't care.
Spammers... They're like parasites. Where there's people they'll gather. As the people decrease so do they. They have accounts but ultimately they don't really play or care about the game and what it's done/is doing. They're community fiends. Or those who know it's going down (or don't but don't care either way).. but like on the Titanic they're just here to play us all out and do things the way they want for better or worse.
4. Those who accidentally wandered in/came back.
Big mistake. You spend a month here, now, coming from other games and you KNOW this is a withered husk on a life support machine. It could go any minute. Every second it get's closer and closer to that fine line where it no longer becomes a worth while thing for Jason and he flicks the lights out.
5. Those who are trying to get out.
They know it's going down the **Filtered** and they're trying to get on one of the those $$ life rafts. Shame that they generally all left about a year or so ago. I suppose the problem with these people is that they all decided this course of action at the same time even though it was already blatently obvious that the account market was crashed. I didn't thin diluting it would help the situation.....
I think that once again a very huge paradigm/attitude shift is in order of the game. People need to stop playing it like it's 2005-2007 (jumping into these massive super powers) and start partying like its december 30th 1999. There's no glory to be had now. No real respect to be earnt, the big guns are actually tiring and wars are (somehow) worse than they were two years back and trying only makes you a tosser to be honest.
I'd advise everyone that small alliance of 10 or so players and a strict policy of not attacking the younglings would be the best course of action. This would need backing up with a fast paced and dediated advertisement programme, series of new game updates, a more active admin and of course something to make people want to come here. However like with the past two massive changes that needed to be implimented in the game (which I, of course, accurately predicted long before they came) this one will probably occure a year or so after it's already too late if it's still here then.
