I use the unread posts link when perusing the forum,
Wondering would it be possible to get a check box added next to unread messages, so I can tick the ones I want to mark as read without having to log into individual forum sections to do it.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won.
There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.

As far as we know, that will not be possible without using a modification of some sort, since there's nothing resembling such feature that we have seen... And getting Jason to install such is highly unlikely...
the best solution would be to read what you want, then use the "mark forums read" button on the bottom of the main page...

"Great holy armies shall be gathered and trained to fight all who embrace evil. In the name of the gods, Browsers shall be changed to carry the internet out amongst the peoples and we will spread Firefox to all the unbelievers. The power of the Firefox will be felt far and wide and the wicked users of IE shall be converted to use the true browsers."
Curious about our color? Feel free to ask...

If you are perusing the forum then there shouldn't be any threads left unread. So I do not see the issue.

This is what I often do. Helps when there's a phantom unread topic left too.
