The Event (typographically stylized THE EVƎNT) is an American television series containing elements of science fiction, action/adventure and political allegory. The show was created by Nick Wauters, and premiered on NBC on September 20, 2010. The plot centers on a group of extraterrestrials, some of whom have been detained by the United States Government for sixty-six years since their ship crashed in Alaska, while others have secretly assimilated among the general populace. The series was picked up for a full season of 22 episodes on October 18, 2010.

That seems interesting, don't know when I will be able to have a look at it though, doesn't seem to be available on TV yet in my country..

I watch this show and i like it...my only problem is that it is shown on NBC in America and they cancel every show i like and most of the time they just take it of the air before the last episode is shown...The Cape
But the Event is good and the 2 hour special the other night has opened up more questions and also answered some...When the Dad was telling his daughter that he will answer everything she needs to know but in time...i was thinking...no answer the bloody questions now you might get cancelled i don't want another Las Vegas ending

I tried watching it, but wasn't a fan of the style or story line. The first couple of episode's jump back and forth so frequently it's hard for the casual viewer to follow. It also tried to be too mysterious for it's own good. To top it all off, at the end of the pilot a plane is flying right at the house where the President is located. Secret Service rushes the President, and his family, to a car to drive them away from the impending plane crash, right? Nope, they rush his family into a car and then no one even closes the car door or attempts to drive away. It's as if they thought driving away might work, then thought better of it and said; "**Filtered** it, why try."

I enjoyed it when i watched it, but i've forgotten a lot of it already so not that impressionable. But i'll be watching the next series.

EDIT: Damn I didn't realise it had resumed on Sky.

Just started watching and catching up, I found the jumping back a for between characters and past & present a bit disjointed and annoying at first but it settled down and started to work a few episodes in, now the story has drawn me in and got me hooked.



Im only up to episode 6 so far so please keep spoilers out of sight

[spoiler=]Great show and good clilffhanger ending but TBH the alien planet appearing in the sky is NOT original, reminded me of last years Dr Who when the timelords did exactly the same thing for the same reason and with the same intention.

Also so so many unanswered questions

1) Why was the old guy ' the guardian' who shot himself experimenting on the 1/2 breed children ? Maybe to make the aliens age like us or become human ?

2) Whats in the scrolls ?

3) What is The Event ? The transformation they left earth to avoid and will somehow destroy us in a nastier way than spanish flu ?[/spoiler]

waste of time watching it, its cancelled so all those annoying questions will be forever unanswered ! totally sucks, they always cancel decent shows that could have good story lines
