Yeah but to put stuff into context with our modern day values and point of view you need humans from fairly recent Earth history to be thrown in the mix. WW2 era people would be good IMO as they have most of our values and weaponry similar to modern day but with no political correctness and used to sacrafice in war. Also having two factions of people with difference ideologies who are already actively fighting each other forced to work together with internal betrayals and conflicts opens up many new stories and variables we havent had before.
Ori = Their powers are to 'magical' for my taste, I like sci fi, not myth & magic.
Ancients = To high tech, runs the risk of startrek style technobable
Wraith = Not bad but the soldiers are all essentially drones, only the leaders have personality and they are basically a race of farmers
Asgard = Always good to put in the mix as extra's but not as a main race
Replicators = Good for odd action episodes but again not interesting enough to be a main race
Furlings = Are they Tribbles or Critters, Critters I hope, would be nice to see an appearance
Nox = Pacifists are to boring
Gou'ald = Egotistical, self indulgent, flamboyant, deceitful, power hungry empire builders with just the right level of tech, BEST BADDIES EVER !!!

Re: The end of a 17 years adventure
A sad day but it is time to say goodbye to the series.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, gone are the days when we would be excited that a new episode was about to air. Stargate has suffered something of a slow drawn out death and it is time to remember the good days and accept that it is all over.
The prequal idea is good and just a shame they didn't think of it instead of SGU which was nothing more than a mash between Stargate and Battlestar Gallactica.
