I think you should, UK aren't part of the Shengen area. For members' citizens within the area an ID card/driver license is sufficient, otherwise for non members citizens yes a passport is preferable/needed.

in uk to uk travel all u need is proper id for watever airline NOTE some airlines r more rigid some are flexible. u need a passport outside UK

come on DLT, that doesnt work if you are flying from somewhere in the EU. Only works if coming from somewhere that you need a visa aswell as passport to get here...
