Berbatov wasn't even a sub. Ferguson didnt include him in the team or as a sub.

Apparently he left before the final whistle, goes to show that Sir Alex for once may have let his overconfidence and ego come in the way of rational thinking, to not start Berbatov and Nani in my opinion is just a catastrophic error, for any final you'd want to field your strongest team and that's definitely the case if the opponents are Barcelona.
If SAF was using the final as a salute to the old guard as it seemed to be then he could've gone the route of Pep. Puyol on for the last 5 minutes putting on the captains armband, it gets the crowd going an old war horse coming on to the pitch and it gets the player game time even if it is rather limited.
