Furthermore I would like to add that Mods changing names as much as you all do is very frustrating and confusing for even long term members ( nice elusive tactic ) but give it a rest. You would be far more approachable and effective with a hint of continuity.

Why should the time one can be a Staff Member be limited? If you are good, stay as long as you can. If not, you are removed.

Your idea to apparently limit bias is unnecessary. You cannot show that any Mod still on the team uses their power to benefit their allies ingame, and hurt their enemies ingame. The ingame position of a user is of absolutely no concern to the Staff.

It would take approximately 30 seconds to deduce who a Moderator is if you took the time to check. I guess it's easier to just complain about it though. You don't need to know their names anyways, if you have a complaint it should only be based on their action and on nothing else.

The name changing is annoying as hell, surely the whole point of a mod is to be contactable, keep chaging forums names makes it a pain to know who exactly is meant to be modding what.

Some people will always complain/criticize anyway, they will never be happy with the mod team or any real life incarnation of authority/power, for various subjective and few objective reasons. If a mod team improves something about themselves, people will say it wasn't done properly, or wasn't done sufficiently. The only way to have close to a perfect team would be to have robots as mods, but they would still be blamed as they would be accused to "lack humanity" in their judging lol.

Peer review? And who, pray tell, are these 'peers' when it comes to administrators? While the moderators are indeed simple users with just a tad more responsibilities and corresponding power, the Administration is in fact beyond anyone else found within the membership of this forum. Jason has decreed it such, Masters of the Forum.

I like the idea of fixed terms for administrators, although I think to extend it to all moderators would be a bit much.

No. As I detailed here the never ending search for 'neutral' moderators has been to the detriment of this forum. We should be promoting the best people for the job. People who are competent, and people who are fair. As long as you're fair, and good at your job, your in-game affiliation should be irrelevant.

I have reported a number of mods, for different things over a fairly substantial time...and what happen to all my reports? I never even got an acknowlegement of them - the "reportind a mod" basically does not work, because that would involve someone upsetting their friend.

Because you're a mod and know exactly where to click to find out all info about mods isn't exactly surprising, and I could probably track it down fairly easy, but to new members of this forum, who barely know what goes into any given section, i'm pretty sure they'd appreciated it...but hey we don't care about new people starting out right?

If people care about them for in game part, I'm sure they do it too for the forum part..it's not like sections names aren't clear after all, with sub-describing for each and all..This forum is more clear than many I faced, even though, I agree, the big amount of subsections.

January 24th of 2010 was the last time you lodged a complaint against a member of the Forum Staff. The member you lodged it against is no longer on the team. Using the report function on the post of a Moderator does not qualify as lodging a complaint, because if the post breaks the rules then it will be handled, if not, it won't. Assuming you were referring to that function.

I will say it clearly. If you have a complaint against a Moderator, or more than one Moderator, please go to Forum & Mod Feedback and create a topic. Outline your complaint, lay out your evidence, and as the replies come in defend your point of view. If your complaint is found to be valid, then either the Moderator will reform, or face consequences.

I have warned 16 individual moderators past and present, 2 of the current GMs, 1 current administrator and 2 ex-admins during my tenure as a moderator. Whenever someone reported one who deserved a warning (do not forget, the actual giving of a warning happens only when actual rules are broken), I gave them a warning. I have replied to each and every PM I have received in my capacity as a moderator. Is your memory really that short? Or do you just twist the truth to suit your agenda? I will take it your memory is defective, as I cannot possibly imagine you would stoop so low.

Do they complain? No. Only a few older members with an axe to grind have, so far. New people actually have a rather good tendency to follow rules and communicate, instead of whining and .. in random threads.

You never get a response to the Report Function because either the report is closed without action, or the person gets verbal/board warnings. What sort of notification would you get?

I posted suggestions to be part of the solution not the problem and yet the problem rears its ugly head.

Yes , I was a good mod for quite a while and ...Technically ... I was "fired" or removed and Im afraid there is nothing you can say to discount my personal experience.( I can only speak to my experience and wont point any fingers) you can ignore it but not discount lol.

I was temporarily inactive at one point. More importantly was how I was treated during my activity which led to my feeling ostracized and out of the loop , powerless. Nothing i attempted to contribute within the Mod collective was accepted or appreciated or even welcomed within the what was a very disfunctional drama packed power struggle within the administrative wing of this forum at that particular time period.

This in addition to the constant beratement and aggressive hostility by upper level mods effectively facilitated my complacency and inactivity.

I would also add that I was not notified before being removed and had to ask admin why upon having my access removed ... to be told I was not active enough at that time.

Either way , I feel my experience was true to form as part of the problem with the forum.
