Mothership M.A.D

Just a thought whilst i was in the shower

What if we had a button which when you press it, "Crashes your mothership into ____ Mothership" ergo, creating a Mothership - Mutually Assured Destruction.

So when you crash your MS into an opposing MS, you destroy their slots as well as yours

So Person A has 5000 shield + 5000 Volley slots
Person B Has 3000 shield + 3000 Volley Shots

If Person B crashes their MS into Person A then a % of Person B's MS is destroyed and that same number is destroyed on Person A's MS (A % might be better because complete destruction may not work... =/)

and vice versa

To stop smaller MS's just repeatedly running into bigger MS, I would say that the Offensive power of the Mothership at the time, must be something like 1.5 or 2 times the power of the Defensive power of the defending mothership, at the time of the M.A.D

Anyway, just wanted to throw a spanner in the works :), thought this maybe fun, and of course would have to be worked on

how about the person who crashes into the other loses the actual slots then,m so they have to buy a % back, this should persuade them not to use it so rashly.

Thats what the whole idea, instead of destroying the actual weapons, we're destroying the slots, but by destroying one person's MS slots, one has to also destroy their own creating a Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D is the best thing that comes to mind after DDE's M.A.D Declaration all those years ago)

This sounds like a custom idea for multi's to destroy motherships that have taken quads to build.

I did, thats why I said that in order for a player to actually pull it off, their MS offensive must be something like 2x the power of the defending mothership, meaning if a MS has taken quads of naq to build, the attacking Mothership would have had that much put into theirs, so they could actually mass it down in the first place, meaning to take down a real real big MS, it would have to be an account which has been put through its paces

No facepie, I think you are forgetting that the cost of Motherships is exponential.

0 to 100k volleys for example costs about 50trillion
100k to 200k volleys costs 150trillion on top of that.
200k to 300k volleys costs 250trillion on top of that.
etc etc

So basically what you are suggesting Facepie is that a cheap MS, should be able to take out and completely DESTROY UTTERLY a mothership that has had a LOT more naq put into it.

So sorry, I doubt how much you have thought about this idea.

Well, not that much clearly since i said in the first line "I just had a shower" and am merely putting an idea out there

And I'm not trying to suggest that, The attacking MS would have to mass down the defense of the defending MS in the first place to be able to even consider the option of a MADl, so really, a more expensive MS or close to the value, would be necessary

The only way a cheap MS would be able to take it down would require a teamwork among alliance members and a willingness to sacrifice one's MS, and even then, thats why i wrote a "%" of the attacking MS gets deducted off both Motherships, so that it would not be capable of completely destroying a defending MS

And sorry, I just saw your point about the costs being exponential, I guess that does change things

Suicide ramming mission has been suggested and discussed before, if your MS is being destroyed by an MS so much bigger you have no chance it kind of makes sense that you would ram the enemy.

There would have to be a fair ratio of how much damage a ram could achieve based on the cost of the upgrades, a 100 bill MS ramming a 1 trill MS should only do say 30 or 40 bills worth of damage to the ship rammed and zeroing the ship doing the ramming. If a group ( alliance ) of people with smaller MSs ramming they could potentially take out an MS that none of them individual could take down.

I think to stop one person simply ramming, rebuilding & ramming again and again, this would also need a rebuild time, several turns or hours after a ramming to rebuild.

How about 'suiciding' your MS to destroy another motherships defence, and ONLY defence (leaving yours inoperable for say 24 hrs? WITHOUT loosing slots) but directly destroying the enemies motherships defence to say 70% of your mothership ex-current trained power. E.g 1 trill mothership (combined def and attack) will destroy 700 bill of another MS's defence (if there so happens to be that much), leaving your ms totally spent for 24 hrs and powerless. Or perhaps a bit more than just defence on a ms.

While I dont like that Multi's exist or give unfair advantage to the players that use them, I dont think they are a real concern in this suggestion, multi's seem to be mostly resource generating feeder accounts ( either the big def ones that sit accumilating income/UP or raid accounts ), occasionally the vulture type hitting 0 defs for naq and taking 0 def planets appears in the attack logs like 'Lycan' but since this suggestion would make the ramming mission cost the person ramming more than the person being rammed a single player would have little effect using it, only an alliance or team effort would work, and the moment a multi participated in a team effort it would expose itself an get reported/banned.

As I said above, if the damage calc was fair taking the comparative sizes and cost of upgrades into account, and an MS once having made a ram was out of action for several hours then this could work.

I guestimated the 30% of strength in damage but take it as an example

Say a monster MS ( call it 5 Trill ) is being attacked by a ramming/massing team from an enemy alliance, and for the example say the enemy alliance has 10 members it can get online at once with MSs around the 1 trill mark.

9 X 1 Trill MS's ramming & inflicting 300 Bill of damage each would do 2.7 trill of damage, the 10th attacking MS would still be facing a 2.3 trill MS with his/her 1 trill, still an expensive mass in itself but achievable. The 10 player team could do in a reasonable time at a very high cost what none of them could do alone. The monster MS player would sill be way up on kill ratio / ME / cost of repairs.

quite interesting... but potentially very expensive... if person being massed comes online in the middle and you don't get to kill he's volley's you lost more... but is not this same with massing nowadays...

also the math needs to be worked on carefully and thoroughly... to first make it fair to big MS's and second to make it worth attempting...
