my friends visited me about a month ago and logged into their accounts from my location, and even after all that time had elapsed when he was back home it was still blocked. It makes things difficult for players sometimes.
And at my location i have a block of IP addresses, but even that wasnt enough once we all went through routers etc
Lets just say I'd like to see more development on this to hopefully make a lil less persecuting on honest players
There you go then, the game has recognised that you have all at some point logged in from the same location - this should be solved by a straightforward request to forum.
Yeah well it was sorted eventually, after 4 emails. but for a whole month we were at our own IP locations. Why does that count for nothing??
Meh anyways as it no longer affects me i'm not gonna ressurt this again, but would like to see more done to take into account lan parties etc so freinds arent harmed by this you only need to do it once and your buggered rule.
Okay, 90% of my alliance is based around my school. See a problem?
Not to mention, my damn lazy procrastinating friends haven't sent me the IP like I asked, even though he got it when the rule first came out. Not to mention I myself am very forgetful, and may have ADD (My mom has it, my sister has ADHD), which doesn't help with these things.
Maybe Admin should add something about, say, if 75% of users from a location have different IP adresses in addition, it is considered a public zone...
Another idea, make IPs expire in a little bit if they aren't your most common login location.
As for stopping multi-accounting, that is bull. Several times over people have made bullcrap acounts for the purposes of trading through our alliance. And then, while we're at it, why not make it someone's officer?
Basically, all anyone has to do to negate this rule is create a false user, and never log on to him at anyone else's house. If you have two or more, you can do all the trading you wish... at your own risk.
Thus, this bad attempt to end multi-acounting has done the following:
1. ^ upped bullcrap acounts
2. ^ upped scamming (from those new accounts gaining customers)
3. ^ upped the amount of users getting unfairly ripped off because of internet locations.
Why not check for things that are more reliable tip-offs
1. More than 1 player from a single internet location used dodgeit.com for emails
2. Multiple accounts from a single location share passwords
3. Multiple accounts have emails such as "guy1@X.com", "guy2@X.com", and so on.
Furthermore, these findings would result in an IP ban, and simply say, "A tip-off from a user in the game has revealed you to have multiple accounts. Please contact admin if this statement is false."
At this point, if admin is emailed he can simply find the user's data... If there are indeed "guy1@..." "guy2@..." or like fifteen guys with the same password, the odds the player isn't a multi-accounter is pretty much zip.
Another option is that instead of an IP ban, the oldest users are deactivated... permanent vacation mode unless the players prove their innocence. Depends on whether or not admin is 100% determined to punish multi-accounters.
Although, I would start with lifting the new "has shared locations" and include something about deleting any go-between profiles as "security precautions have been increased in other areas"
I 100% understand his intent... but I don't think he really thought it out from a player's perspective... we often go to nearby libraries when our computers break down, log in on our schools (assuming you are still in some type of school), and we really often log in at friends houses to brag about our stats.
This rule should be lifted. There are other ways to stop multi-ers that won't actually create more of them.
I can agree with KnightValor, 90% of my alliances are through my brothers, father, and friends at school, who often times come to my house. I could also stand for a time in which users cannot trade, but a complete stoppage of trading should not be issued. But there is one flaw to the 3 rules of multi accounting. My brothers and my father and i, use the same password, because it pretty much runs in the family. And our house has a single IP address, but i'm sure the admins are very smart and can overlook the un-multiaccounters and find the real multi-accounters.
Hopefully the admins will get this cleared along with the IP adress for depositing money, it's the same thing.
