can i check my commanders logs to see if hes being attacked and help him or can he/she only check mine?, also does haveing a smaller army realistically help your chances or not getting any casualties, many thanks if you reply with helpful info!

Commanders can check their officers logs, but not the other way around. Need to know basis eh?
The smaller your army, the fewer the casualties you will suffer. However, untrained units do not matter, it's only the trained that die now.

If it moves, kill it. If it doesn't move, kick it until it does move, and then kill it.

It's not that obvious. You can do 2 things.
1. Find another worthy commander
2. Find yourself in the rankings, and click make this user my commander. This gives you a 20% bonus in troop production. After you made yourself your commander (and if forum fixed the bug) you can access your officers screen and dismiss yourself, and end up with no commander. This gives you 10% naquadah per turn and 10% extra troop generation.
