A RL mate of mine, Adisus got me into this game. Was my first form of online gaming id ever tried. I got hooked and from that, been a competitive online gamer in anything ive played since.

MAny years ago I was playing stargate maps on StarCraft with Mercenary. He told me about this game and how I should join and be his officer, so I was like, wth, lets give it a shot. Since then, ive been playing this game without much of a break.

That's how my friend did it, and then he quit the day after I passed his size by 40 times.

Friend introduced me to the game a few months after it started. Text based ftw, loved it more because of that, i had dial up back in the day so i couldnt hardly play any online games.

I got a new job and 2 of the people in the company were playing it on their lunchbreaks, I liked the SG1 TV series so gave it a go.

One of the guys was called Jonboy I think, amongst other things, that was his main account but he boasted about cheating and had several accounts as an IT geek he ran them from the office.

Other one was Palmergeddon and he got me to sign up as his officer and showed me how the game worked as I was at the next desk to him in the office.

Didnt actually like either of these people and after leaving the job never had any contact with them but soon met people in game I did like and got some RL friends to start playing.

One of them was Starsphere, and it was somewhat dying
After that I tried abderus, it was about the same, but not what I was looking for. While searching for other sci fi mmorpgs, I ran into this one.

My brother was about to make a KOC clone(which is what SGW is) and he was really into SG, so he was looking for what names had been taken and he came across GW and was annoyed cause they came up with the same idea he had like a few months before he did.

He brought me to GW on my birthday back in 05.

I was searching the internet, Looking for a stargatewars game.

I ewas exciteing when i found this one, Although it wasnt what i wanted. I did know was an MMO was, as i'd played the terminator one, this one far excelled that, Even in its youth.

I was really looking for a FPS though....

I've seen an advertise and decided to give it a try. Before SGW I never played a mmorpg text based game, nevertheless I got addicted in the first day, I think it was March, 18th 2006 (must be crazy to remember that lol).

I saw the original movie, the 1994 one, played the Super Nintendo stargate based game ([spoiler2=]http://youtu.be/TWymeIj2Mrw[/spoiler2]) and started watching the series only after I started playing SGW. This show (Stargate SG1) is still in my all time favorites.

I was roleplaying on the Sci-Fi Channel forums and a fellow RP'er named High Guard asked me to join him at a game that just finished Beta testing, I joined at the end of March '05 but didn't join the forum until April.

When I started college in 2005, my friends there started playing this and got me into it. I played till end of 2006 but started up again now because a friend also started playing again. Much has changed
