Poor penetration in the early guns is why I didn't go down the German line, though the bugged mantlet armour during the beta was also pretty... Embarrassing.

Nice. So far the VKP doesn't share any engines with other tanks down the line (Except I think the 4502), but once the Porsche line comes out...

4502 and a TD, i think the Ferdi.

yes, i'm aware that the Russian devs perfer Russian tanks and make them gloriously OP. and that's why our German tanks with RL sight range in the KM's are limited to sight range in the M's because that's where Russian tank's optics were at during WW2.

Whilst I do agree the devs are slightly biased towards the russian tanks, the only reason the KT and Tigers had such good RL k/d ratios, was because they were put up against mainly Shermans with the 75mm and T-34-76s. The 'bigger' soviet guns, particularly the 152mm family, were very formidable.

Almost got the VK36 last night, going with the comical gun until I get the 88/l56, yeah pen hurts but it's a beastly tank from my experience and it will be reclassified as a heavy tank in the finalized tree (hopefully it will get some buffs when it happens).

They did not always succeed but you have a fair point.
[bittervet]Unfortunately that doesn't mean you can use "historical" data on russian tanks (the almighty IS-4 buff for instance) and use "balance" for german (Tiger speed is a good example). Yes I am a bit bitter about the original FOTM T-55 that got put in. [/bittervet]
I am quite aware that every nation is up-gunned from their original stats for the sake of game-play and yes German side has a lot of prototypes (all the VK series)

The monster of a gun indeed, it didn't have as much penetration as the D-10 guns but what it lacked in penetration it made up in sheer volume. The shell itself was 40 kg.

my point was fire range, not kill range. i'd be perfectly fine with leaving the "damage" rating the same on these guns, if we got the actual range we should get, if the russians are getting their massive close range guns.

A ping of less than 350ms is not noticeable. Regardless, you can bring up a reticle which adjusts for lag (capslock + 0) which lets you aim properly and such if your ping is high.

Call me weird but I like to play with nice low ping (usually around 50). IT was quite irritating during beta when they didn't have euro servers.
